Steven - Angus Chang looks very royal and certainly fits the bill. I realize this theme is going to be a bit of a challenge, but hopefully everyone will be able to find something. Maybe the year number or the pig will yield some options.

As you say, Portland does have a Chinatown with a beautiful gate. Problem with the gate is that no matter where you photograph it from you get one of the signs for the adult bookstore.:o

I know the shot I want, but I probably won't get there til later in the week. If I don't get it, it'll probably be a restaurant sign.

Please thank Angus Chang for me.

Try Chinese New year and Robert Burns together in your search engine of choice and multicultural is defined.

Thank goodness he got away! :D The joke is very common around here. 4 restaurants moved in and the stray population disappeared. Well - at least that's the way the locals tell it. The police, of course, attribute it to the new animal control officer they hired about the same time. Love seeing Angus. As I've told you before he looks so much like my dearly departed Bubba it almost makes me cry.

The Rainbow Bridge Author not known

There is a bridge connecting heaven and hearth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. Thre is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches. The ears are up. The eyes are staring. And this one suddenly runs from the group.
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

Thank you for that wonderful poem. He has been gone a few years but he is really hard to forget. He was such a cool cat. He played fetch with a ball, he "sat up" at the dinner table waiting for bits of scraps, he liked to chew on our dogs rawhide. In other words - he thought he was a dog. Not another one like him.

Tony- Good improv work for the theme this week. I started to think about all my banks I had as a kid; piggy, slot loading, coin books and then all of the methods for extraction! Not having kids I too am curious if most have banks or is that necessary considering the fact most (not all) parents freely give credit.

Nancy- Glad you liked AC's picture. I'll give him your regards. I forgot to say in my post that he will appreciate it being the Year of the Pig (right after I said he was big and fat.)

Great shots everyone.

I know I am usually a bit later than most but I am stumped this week. I took my camera with me on training, but there was not much time and virtually nothing to shoot.

I might have something I can get tomorrow.

Bill

I heard this morning it is the year of the Golden Pig... good catch.:)

Gary - Thanks for the comment ... hadn't heard about the golden pig. I'm confident you'll find another great shot tomorrow.

Next week's theme will be easier:) to find.
