I did a search and I couldn't find a thread that I could understand. :)
I have PSE 5.0 installed and I've put all of my brushes into program files/adobe/Photoshop Elements 5.0/ presets/ brushes. However, they don't show up in my brushes drop down menu. I did not have Elements open when I installed them. What am I missing? Talk slowly so that I can understand. :o

Hi Amber. Did you try to reset the brush tool and then see if they load. If you don't know how to do this, it is easy. Select the brush tool, then on the top tool bar to the left of the brush drop down, the first icon, click it and the drop down will have an option to reset the tool. Choose that and see if that helps.

Sounds like even though you have put your brushes in the right place, PSE5 doesn't "know" they're there yet and therefore isn't loading them into the menu so you can use them. Not all programs will just start using new options like that, they need to be told to use them. Did a little looking and I think this is what you need to do (step by step):
1. In Editor, open the Brush Tool on the left side toolbar.
2. Once the Brush Tool is open, select the Brush Tool to open the drop down where you select the particular brush you want to use.
3. Select the drop down as if you were going to select a different brush set.
4. In the window that now opens, notice the small arrow to the right of the box that shows the brushes. Select that arrow to open another menu box.
5. In the new menu box, select Preset Manager. This opens another box.
6. In the new box, select the Load button. This opens the Brushes folder in PSE5 where you put your brushes.
7. Select the brush you want to load, then hit the Load button again.
8. Repeat for each brush set you want to load.
The help files were not real specific on this, but I think it will work. The following is copied from the "To use preset tool options" in the help files:
To load a library of brushes, gradients, or patterns, open the pop-up palette menu, choose the Load command, then select the library file you want to add and click Load.
Note: Using the Load command adds the brush library to the brushes you have available. If you choose a preset library of brushes, the preset library replaces your current set of brushes.
Hope this helps. If not......someone will have the answer for you! :)
:D I hope I didn't type too fast..... :D
