Has anyone ever encountered a simple way to change PSE3, 4 or 5 red-eye reduction feature to a green-eye reduction feature or to any other color for that matter? What a boon this could be for helping those pet's eyes simple, perhaps.
Thanks,
Tom

It's just as easy to do it manually - Wendy is the expert on green eye - take a look at this thread:

Wendy,
Would you please check your link: http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com...ight=green+eye... as I have tried multiple times to open this and I onl get "ERROR 404". I truly learn from you much of the time and I would like to review the information in the link.
Thank you,
Tom

To All:
O.K., I understand there are many different approaches to manually fixing eyes. However, many cameras and Adope programs offer an automatic/quick fix routine for red-eye in human images. Is there any way of automaticaly use these programs to fix "green eyes"? Some photos are snapshots and their value could be greatly enhanced with a quick fix, green-eye reduction or anti-glare eye tool for pet eyes. Many of these snapshots are not of a quality that warrant spending considerable time in retouching or fixing because these are not going to be enlarged to the size where major work is needed.
Thanks again,
Tom

Hi Tom ...

I suspect that the link to Jodi's thread (and Jodi's thread itself) vanished when the site crashed in 2005 ...

... so unless Jodi reposts the instructions then I'm afraid its lost totally :o

yes that was an old one ! That was on a specific dog that had brown eyes orginally but got blown out by flash and rendered his eyes green glow....and both his eyes were identical.

It really depends on the original dog/photo on how i would do things. That was an easy one.

There are other ways tho....

I suspect that this would be difficult if not impossible. The cause is different in animals and humans. In humans it's the flash reflecting off blood vessels in the back of the eye and the colour is always basically the same (unless you look like Jodi's avatar :D ). Animals with night vision have a reflecting layer (the tapetum) in the back of the eye which can be all sorts of different colours (green, blue, yellow etc) and changes colour with age. So I would imagine trying to automate the correction would be tough - fix a blue-eyed Doberman to it's natural brown and you'd also turn your Siamese cats eyes brown as well which wouldn't look right :)

Hi ...

I totally agree with Tony ... everyone is different and takes a slightly adjustment to the way you deal with it :)

Tony and Wendy,
I do understand what both of you wrote and I do agree with this TOTALLY> I have never used :red-eye reduction" in any programs and I also do not use quick-fix. If it is worth having, then it is worth doing well!!!!! By the same token, I was curious only because of the large number of red-eye reduction programs around and the common problem with pet eyes.
Thanks to you both and thanks for making your true feelings and experience known.
Best regards,
Tom

Wendy,
I forgot to thank you for finding Jodi's original, so thank you and please forgive my oversight.

Jodi, thank you for your verification.

I shall try to make my pets eyes lose their green glare from bad lighting.

Regards,
Tom

Tom, if you'd like to post the photo here it would probably be a nice way to see just how glowy the dogs eyes are...how much they are affected. We'd probably be of better help that way....every pup eye is different.

You can use ' Pixentral ' to post an image ..free. Just copy URL link they give you and paste it here.
