And was wondering if i should purchase PSE5. I have 4 and to tell you the truth i have not mastered all of the features or it's capablities yet.
Should i master 4 before moving up to 5?
what are some of the new features in 5 that i can't live w/ out?
Thanks for you input!!

Women are just so common sense. Just buy it. I bet you don't have Vista yet either do you. : )

If you want all the Kewl goodies that come with Jodi's CD you need PSE 5.
Here's a sample: Just upgrade immediately!

Kate, here's a review that talks about the new features:

Hi Kate ...
PSE5 does have some nice features especially if you are into Scrapbooking ... but if you are happy with PSE4 then stay with it for a while until you have mastered some more of it :)

Jack, you are just too good to me :)
Kate, it's your choice but if you have the $$$$ then just upgrade to the better newer version...what is the point in learning a 100% of an old version ? The newer version is actually more accommodating to newer users anyways.

I agree. 5 is the way to go. To me, it's the finest upgrade of Elements yet.
You don't have to toss out 4, either, if you don't want to - you can have them both on one machine (but you can only run at a time). 5 has plenty of more tools (Curves, guides, channel mixer and many other add-ons and extras are available at various places ;) ) plus the slideshows, scrapbook & tons of other available graphic packages really make it a great upgrade.
The only thing I miss in 5 that I still use 4 for is the option to output creations as PDFs.

Yeah...what they all said......'cept for Vista. I wouldn't be in any hurry to upgrade to that unless you're buying a new machine. My approach to any upgrade is, does it have what I need? and will I use the extras that its now offering? If I can answer those questions yes, I upgrade. :)

I was teasing about Vista. I actually don't have that yet myself. Most likely I will buy an oem copy to play with though. I like messing with the new stuff including PSE5. If there is a program better than PSE5 I never heard about it. I was in IT for awhile and got mixed in with Microsoft so I get to test a lot of stuff. They just don't know I'm not in IT any more. If you get down to it most people could still be using Windows 95.

Kate, I'd read the review that Chuck gave you. I went from 3 to 5 and I sure had not mastered much on 3. The thing with 5 if you want some quick layouts and to create a theme - it is all there. I have done some really quick photo e-mails that when I was using 3 required a lot more thinking. The other thing is if you do not have a Wacom pen you could do that and use it with 4. I notice the price for 5 just keeps dropping. Whatever you decide - have fun.

I also went from 3 to 5 and it was a great upgrade! I never had 4 as it didn't seem like it was worth the upgrade, but 5 definitely is.
The choice ultimately has to be yours but there are a lot of cool features.
Jodi's cd is well worth it also. There are so many background and frames and the example above just shows a few of them.

Sorry to disagree but PSE5 has a lot more appeal than Scrapbooking alone, especially greater control over Layer Styles, and other commands as well.
I'd definitely download a tryout version.

With all my scrapbooking supplies, the organizer tags have been pretty great. It will automatically group, say may alpha letters that otherwise would take up 35 or so files. They nestle nicely stacked and don't take up all my screen space when scanning down lists.
The auto-red-eye correction upon import has saved me a ton of time.
