View Full Version : Opening a Topic on "CLOSING" in PSE 4.0

DUMMY QUESTIONS AGAIN:
When I I use PSE 4.0, I typically select a JPEG(imag) from the browser, go to "Edit", edit the image, print the image and if I am satisfied with the print, I Save the edited file as a PSD coded in the name with the size of the image I printed for easy recall. My question is what are the proper steps or the best sequence of steps for closing out of the software prior to shutting down my computer? Should I individually close each image? If I have saved the image as a PSD, do I select "YES" or "NO" when the window asks whether I want to save the changes? In fact, what is the difference if the image details are already saved as the PSD?
Thanks for dummy assistance as it is very much appreciated.

Hi Tom

I just did a quick try to see what you need to do, to have the program ask if you want to save as you close.
I had a file saved it (PSD) and then closed it (no question when closing)
Opened the same file turned a layer off then on (eyeball) when I closed,it asked me if I wanted to save.
So it looks as though you don't even need to do any editing for it to ask you if you want to save, just any sort of change of state.

I tend to close them all first, one at a time, pick yes for the saving if I do want it saved and then close the program.

Gary,
Thanks much. I will try this later and see. Something tells me that if I have gone from the edited image to "save as" to make the PSD so that the PSD is still in the editor, when I close the PSD by selecting the image that I do get a window asking whether I want to save the changes/ I will look and if I do get the window, I shall let you know.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Tom

As I said, it seems that anything done to the photo even just turning a layer off or on will force the "do you want to save" when you close it.:)
