The only way I seem to be able to keep the object I want as the center of attention in a picture I am cropping to not change in size, is to use No Restriction. But is there some way to tell what size I am getting when using No Restriction? Is there somewhere on the window in Elements 5 that shows what is happening with the line(marching ants) I am drawing around to crop with? It seems to me there should be some kind of numbers showing and telling me what size I am getting with the the line(marching ants)?

just check out the first few minutes of this video (http://www.graficalicus.com/Downloads/Video/Quick_Tips.wmv)- it's about cropping in different ways (it sounds like you're using a marquee tool to crop, rather than the crop tool - this will help give you more control)

Sheila, if you have the Info tab open on the desktop, it can show you the width and height of a crop as it's being performed. However, you have to make sure that the Info tab is visible when you begin your crop; everything is frozen on your desktop until you complete or cancel the crop.

Yes, I think the info tab is what I need, where or how do I get the info tab to show?

Yes, I am using the crop tool.

Chuck, I found it,,,,,the info bin was hiding and I went to window and clicked it and up it came, now if I can get it docked to stay? Thank you.

Also thank you Graficalicus. I will watch the movie. I need to learn more about using the crop tool.

Sheila, I usually drag the info tab out of the palette bin onto an unused area of the desktop. Actually, I group it with couple other palettes (histogram and undo history); that way they're always there when I need them.

I like to keep my grid
view>grid

and my rulers
view>rulers

on whenever I'm doing stuff where I need to know the size. You can easily crop with the marquee if you use the grid to measure.
