I had a serious crash the other day. I went into my organizer today and it looks like this:

Notice the red boxes??? Those blue things that look like balloons?? The numbers on the top right?
Has anyone seen this happen before??? I have had enough! I am going to bed! Please post if you understand this!

Colleen: I have seen that - not in such great quantity though. But for the life of me I can't remember what I did that caused it and how I got rid of it. Hopefully someone will come along who knows.

Thanks Tony!
It was very odd, I tried to play around a little more, but fatique overcame me and I went to bed....after 1 am, which is really late for an around 10 pm person like me. I have not checked my PSE today, but I will. I tried to back up my computer and that also encountered a problem, so I just quit for the night. I believe Maxtor has some fix for that. I will let you know what I find today! Oh and interestingly, most of my folders with pictures in them turned to a bluish color and had a picture with corners on them. I also thought that was odd....but only folders with pictures that were in the organizer.
Thanks for your help and support!

Colleen, that sounds awful! I've never seem your problem before. I hope you get it all fixed today! Have you backtracked and wrote down everything you did before it happened or, like you said, you had a computer "crash".

My 2 cents worth.....Maybe its a "Virus".....hope not ....Is it only on the organizer?
Best of luck

Thanks everyone. This morning I got up and they were gone. The organizer looks normal. Someone told me I should not use my computer anymore except for trying to fix it. Today I moved Maryellens and my itunes off to my external. I tried to burn CD's with some recent stuff, but the disks wouldn't verify. I am going to try again today. I also have to get my homework done for the EA course, but I really don't care if I lose that once it is done.
Computers...gotta love them  !

Some strange things, for sure. I'm glad the unit has returned to some semblance of order. If your disks will not verify, perhaps you could do a quick backup to the external hard drive.

No, Ward, I can't even backup! My maxtor gives me an "assertion failure at Elem.cpp-992" Talk about not sounding good!!!
Actually though, Nick Lewis led me to a thread about that particular failure. so it appears to be correctable...just a matter of more time!!!! I will try to get to it later today or tomorrow.. I think that new computer will be needed sooner rather than later! So, I have had elements problems, pinnacle problems, disks that won't verify and a backup that won't backup.
I did successfully move itunes off though. So that's good. I did a full backup of my system in mid november which was before I moved all my photos over to my external. I backed up PSE on 12/28/06. So even if I were to lose stuff, it wouldn't be that much. My big posters for the Athletic Department were saved through PSE onto my external. That would have been my biggest worry.
All things considered, this is only a computer that is ill. Yes, it may be life threatening to the computer, but it is not a person. So, I will deal with whatever happens and just come here to vent, so it is your job to remind of that last sentence:D and make me realize this is just STUFF! Ok?:D
Oh, and if by some chance you don't seem me on for a while???? The computer may have died! I'll try to get someone to post for me if that is the case!

Colleen, yes, this is just stuff!! You can vent anytime you want...we'll listen! You better go out shopping soon for a new computer because if we don't see you on line for a while, we're going to miss you...we'll need another way to get in touch til you get one!
Well, at least you're getting a lot of experience with all these problems. We're going to be coming to you with our similar problems now, Mrs. Computer Guru!!:D :D
