I upgraded from PSE 2 to PSE5, and get an error message: HELP STARTUP ERROR--Adobe Help cannot start. Model subsystem returned this error: 1

I then removed PSE2, but still get the error msg, and Help won't open.

Anybody have a fix?

Can't help, but I wish you luck. I'm about to install Elements 5, hope I don't have the same problem. I always get nervous installing new programs. I have E4 and I think I will leave it on my computer for a while. Hope you get it to work soon.

I went from 2 to 5 yesterday with no problem. I did uninstall 2 before I actually opened 5. I searched in Windows search and also the Registry to remove any leftovers before opening 5.
If you can't solve the problem this way I suggest you uninstall both programmes and start again with 5.

PS. You did say 'Upgrade', if you have an upgrade disc simply insert it and go through the install process again without removing anything.:)
HTH.

Hi Drummie ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

There really isn't any need to unistall one version before you install another as they are all stand alone programs ... many us have several different version on our computers. So that isn't going to be the cause of the problem ..

When you did the install did you have anything like Norton running ??

Hi Drummie,

You might like to have a look at this Adobe TechNote, and see if it casts any light - it mentions your error message, admittedly in the context of other apps, but including Photoshop CS2.
