View Full Version : Using the "No Frame" Frame in PSE5

Don't know if this has been pointed out before but it was new to me when I discovered it.
The first frame option is a "no frame" and I was wondering what you'd use that for. Turns out to be really useful - it's a frame layer with a do nothing layer style so you can apply any layer style you want to it. You can make your own with strokes and drop shadows or use a custom one - such as one of Jodi's Missing Styles frames. The result has endless possibilities for templates where you can replace any of the images or background or individual frames. Here's a three frame layer example where everything is replaceable, moveable and scaleable.

I just saw this old thread and I'm bumping it up because Tony has provided a really great tip here and most likely many members have not seen it.

I do this when scrapbooking from a template. I use the "no frame" frame over the area where I want my picture(s). Perfect for scaling. You can use the frame's shadow, or make a custom shadow if you want. The only thing with the frames, they seem to slow my PSE down...

I did not see this post- thanks for bumping it up. :)
Thanks for that tip--I love it - I was just playing around with it--so much easier to change frames :)

Open a new page. If you're scrapbooking, you'll want to make sure your PPI is 300. Then, on the Artworks and Effects pallet, find the Frames. Chose the "No Frame" frame. Then, click in the middle of the Frame and it will open the File Open dialog to choose your picture. Or, if your photo is open in the photo bin, drag it into the frame.
