Ok, I am very very new to this whole photoshop thing. It is awesome but man there sure is a huge learning curve!!! Ok, I am trying to scan in multiple images into elements 4.0 for mac and I want to divide them up. I must be doing something wrong because it option to divide scanned photos is grayed out. Tech support told me that "probably" my epson scanner wasn't compatable. Somehow that just doesn't seem right because I can scan a single photo and open it in elements, it just isn't recgonizing that I am scanning in multiple images. I hope this makes sense. Please help....I want to pull my hair out!!! Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Chrissy

Welcome to the forums.:)

I haven't done this in a while so I may have to ponder some things.:D

There are a few things that seem to catch some people (well at least me)

First, you have to have scanned in the photos all at one time and all will open as one document.
Then you pick divide scanned photos (or whatever it says).
If that fails to work, then you likely have not enough border (black) around each photo.
I did this with one of those picture booth filmstrips and for the life of me could not get it to divide. I then turned the border/divider to black and it worked like a charm.

Hope this helps.:)

Hi Chrissy - Don't know if this helps, but I read somewhere that the
prints have to be spaced out some otherwise the program
can't tell the end of one and the beginning of the next...

Does your scanner window give you the opportunity to make multiple selections?

I use a CanoScan, and when in Photoshop I select File>Import, my scanner is there. I select it, and it opens a window for the scanner. I can then choose >Preview, and what's on my platen will appear after a minute or so, and it has the "swarming ants" around the image, indicating a selection. I can then grab one side, move it over, creating some unselected space next to the selected area, and after I do so, if I marquee another selection they both will be there. You can make as many selections as you want; when you click on >Scan the program should scan them one by one and when finished, they will appear in PE as separate windows waiting to be saved.

Hope this helps.

Chrissy, I'd like to help you out but I have Windows XP and PE4. Shouldn't be too different though. I lay all my pic's on scanner and leave a small space between them, then I go into Elements and click on File>Import>and choose your scanner. The scanner should scan all photos at once. Import all all photos and then you should have the option of clicking on Image on top tool bar and selecting "Divide Scanned Photos" if this doesn't work, hopefully someones tips will.
