I have windows xp and elements v.5. Is there a way to preview .psd and .png files without having to open them in elements?

You can download Irfanview and make it your default for all pictures. Here is the link if you wish to do so.

If you havn't already done so you might also want to consider getting a "PSD Thumbnail Convertor" so that your PSD flies will show thumbnail views in your folders. I can't remember where I downloaded mine but you could probably find it with Google.

I normally 'save as' a JPEG into My Pictures and 'save changes' as a PSD file.
