Hi Wendy:
I worked on your Valentine tutorial for several hours yesterday and I keep getting stuck at the same place. My layers palette looks just like yours but when I try to move my photo to get it centered inside the heart shape, the photo is already shaped like a heart. Does this make sense?
You make the heart cutout on the colored layer, right? I think I've done the heart cutout on the colored layer and also on the photo layer.
Anyhow, my problem right now is moving or centering my photo inside of the heart cutout. I click on the photo layer, use the move tool, and try to move or center the photo, but I always end up with the photo already shaped as a heart when I try to move it. Help, please.

Hi Bernie ...

It does sound as if you have done a cut out on both the coloured layer and your photo layer ...

Just add another photograph (open up the image that you want to add then do Edit>Copy next click on the Valentine card and do Edit>Paste)
Then go to the layers palette and drag it below the cut out coloured layer
you may have to resize it ...

if you need to then just use the move tool to do the resize ... if you are not sure how to do that just let me know and I will talk you through it :)

Forgive me, Wendy, but exactly where is click on the Valentine card and do Edit>Paste)? Is it the colored layer with the heart cutout in the layer's palette?

Hi Bernie ...

Just click anywhere on the image ... its only to make sure that the Valentine card is now the image that you are working on.

When you did Edit>Copy you were copying from another image so we now need to switch back to the card you are working on ... clicking on it will do that for you :)

I got it almost figured out. How do I get the marching ants off? I want to do it with a black background, red heart shape and add a picture. I think I might have it figured out but not 100% sure.

To remove the marching ants just do Select>Deselect :)

... and do let us see your Valentine Card when it is finished ...
