Device Not Ready Error

Hello:

New to Elements. Just installed it. Built a project fine but when I go to burn the DVD I get an error message "Device Not Ready." I know the drive works and burns w/other programs. Any ideas what the problem might be? Is Elements in conflict w/another burn program or MSFT?

Appreciate any help offered.

What Premiere Elements version do you have, 2 or 3? I have the 2 version and here are some things to try, if you have not already:

(1) Try hitting the Rescan button in the Burn Dialog before you hit Burn. The READY should appear. (Especially if I am using DVD - R, my ritual would be to hit Rescan, wait for READY to show, hit Rescan again, wait for READY to show again, then hit Burn.)

(2) Try inserting the blank DVD in the drive before you even open Premiere Elements program. (Be sure to make sure that you have not picked up a CD with similar appearance by mistake. That happened to me once.)

(3) If you are using DVD - R, try DVD + R.

Since day 1 (that has been a long time ago), getting READY when using DVD-R has been tricky. The above incorporates some of the work arounds I came across by exploration.

Sure, there could be other possibilities for your situation, needed updates and such, but check the above out first.
