Well here we go again. :) This one has no video to follow. Just Directions.

I am not going to be totally specific. If you have questions go to the Comment Thread and post them there.

You are to go and find a an abstract art image on the net.
Define it as a brush. (don't make it black and white, use it just like it is) remember to save it.
Delete your art and open a new document.
Use your Selection Brush Tool and stamp a blank layer with your new brush.
(all you should see are marching ants)
Open your gradient picker and add your gradient to your marching ants.
Now you should see color. :)
Remember when you open your gradient picker you can choose Load, there are more colors to choose from. Or you can make your own.
Add a white layer as your bottom layer.
Change the blend mode out of normal. Normal is not allowed! (once you highlight normal, all you have to do is use your arrow keys to scroll thru your blend modes until you find something you like.)

Post your new work of art here.:)

Here is a quick example.

Kimi - Not only is that cool, but also because it's abstract you can name it whatever you want! :D

Had to give this a try - from an Escher print - might need to try again with something more abstract........

This was a drawing my daughter did in grade 3 or so. It wasn't until using this technique on it that it came to resemble a person. Hence the title "revealed"...

Here's my try. I made my own abstract art from a pic of a hibiscus I had. Then did the technique with blend mode dissolve. I also added a layer effect on top of that, marbled glass and reduced the opacity to about 35% (softened it up).

That's fun!!! Now I'll go look at everyone elses.

Gary - I think it's very interesting! I like it. Is it the Angle gradient? That may be where you got the great effect.

I don't have time at the moment but will sure give it a try. Just have to tell you I spent a lot of the afternoon on a site that is having a gallery opening tomorrow night for a photographer here in Vancouver. Check out some of the abstract work and the prices!!! I honestly think some of what I see here is better. I was talking to an well-known artist a few weeks ago and he said that he actually uses Photoshop now to give him an outline and ideas for some of his paintings. Keep up the good work and I will try soon.

Shari, I just about fell out of my chair when I saw those prices!! Gulp! You're right - there's some serious talent hidden here at the forum - everyone start protecting your images now 'cuz you're sitting on a goldmine!!

Kimi--this thread and tut is SO COOL!!! What a fantastic idea. I cannot believe I just saw it now.
