Vesta,
Just some thoughts. Hope there is something in the following that will help:
(1) If you have created your slideshow in Premiere Elements and you are experiencing "Burn To Disc" problems, have you tried the "Burn To Folder" route? If the latter works, then just burn this saved folder to DVD with the software that came with your DVD drive.
(2) Do you have STOP MARKER(S) in your Premiere Elements project? That can cause project to stop in encoding process. There is a work around, to be supplied if necessary.
(3) Are you working with a tryout version of Premiere Elements 3.0 or a purchased version?
(a) Do you have any copyright clips in your project?
(b) Activation message may be asking you to finalize arrangement to buy.
If you say NO when you get the message, will it let you continue to
Export as Mpeg?
There is a lot of information on burn problems here and at the Adobe User to User web site, but this is just a starter.

Atr thank you so much for this I have just purchased this bundle PSE5.0 and PRE3.0. I was hoping to create a DVD of slideshows. I may have to do this in the windows movie maker that came with the new Laptop.
The show I made in PRE3.0 will not let me burn to a DVD so I chose the folder 4. something to burn to. It did do that. Now did this earlier just repeated it to see if it would let me do the folder thing again. Now when I open the folder there are two things in it ...Open DVD and video_TS. Which do iIchose on this to burn to DVD, actually when I try to burn it earlier it brought up the CD wizard.
I wanted a dvd that I could have duplicated and give away as a chiurch history type DVD.
The one I burned earlier from that folder that was created would not play in my DVD TV. I may be way over my head here.
I do have one I started in PSE5 for the pan and zoom feature and sent it to PRE 3 but still no luck.
I have SonicMY DVD Plus; I tried and it would let me add my file maybe I chose the wrong one.
The activation message was to enable a mpeg encoder when i chose mpeg I guess.
Do I need to delete some of the things I have burned to folder and start over with the file i created in PSE5. I have lot of pictures to add but wanted to test burning ability before continuing.
How do I check for markers I looked at the timeline and saw none is there a method to erase any markers.
ATR I feel so absolutely defeated by this and need it so much. I wanted to make something that is able to be played on serval things.
I do have windows Movie Maker and could use that just hate to hae to redo the slides i already have in PSE5.
I have super Multi 8X DVD+ and -R/RW drive with double Layer support
Thanks

Vesta,
It sounds like you are half way here. Do not give up yet.
(1) It is the VIDEO-TS folder and its contents that you want to burn to DVD to get your DVD-VIDEO.
(2) You will use the burn software that came with your DVD burner. Some burn software (the ones I have, Nero and Record Now) do not let me use Create Data Disc for this process. For my Nero or Record Now, I have to use the category for burning video files, so:
(a) Using NeroExpress 6. Had to go route, "Burn Image to Disc", "DVD-Video
files" to burn VIDEO-TS file to DVD (used ADD TO in burn software to get
that folder into Nero). Create Data Disc did not do it.
(b) Record Now Version 7. Had to go route "Click this tab to view Backup
Projects", "Burn Image". Only way I got this was to move the
VIDEO-TS file to Desktop, then drag it from the Desktop into the
appropriate spot in Record Now Dialog.
You may be able to use Create Data Disc and not run into the same hangups that I did, but above is the general idea. It is not clear why your burn to disc route is not working. If the burn to folder way serves your immediate purposes, we can troubleshoot the burn to disc when you have more time OR if the burn to folder does not turn out. BUT, it sounds like it should.
Since you have the VIDEO-TS folder, forget about the Stop Marker idea for now. I have Premiere Elements 2.0. The Stop Marker is red; the Main Menu Marker is purple; the Scene Marker is green. If I want to get rid of one of those markers, I right click on it and select the appropriate delete category from pop menu.
I will be watching for the great news, IT WORKED! You can do it.

ATR,
I worked It worked!
I just played it in the DVD that is on my TV. Thank You so much. I wasn't burning the whole folder just a portion of it. Now I need to add all the other pictures to the slideshow. I noticed not a lot but some flickering on a few pictures; what would cause that? this is my first one I have ever done ATR is there anything you would suggest for making it look a little more polished. I have the title page from PRE 3 Holidays ad Events "Celebration" I have used the text Celebrating The Journey 50 Years and used a stretch transition. I haven't played with duration yet. All the slides have a cross transition from PSE5 on them already duration set for 8 sec which gives people an adequate time allowance to observe the picture.
I can't tell you how much encouragement you gave me. A lot of people not just me will be very grateful.

Vesta,
I am so excited about your great news.
Each time you do one of these projects, you learn more and begin to create to your own style and become more creative. I am sure that all will be proud of your video. Congratulations.
Now for the matter of Flicker. Here goes.....
More exploration homework
In Help, check out
"Still Images flicker during playback"
I quote...."Still images typically have a higher resolution than video footage. If a still image contains thin, horizontal lines, those lines may appear to flicker during playback on a TV. The flicker occurs because a sharply defined horizontal line is displayed in only one of the two interlaced fields of video on a TV. To eliminate the flicker, apply a soft-focused effect, such as Gaussian Blur, to slightly blur the lines in the image."
"To specify field processing options for a clip"
Full description is in help. Here I will just add a quick how to which seems to be one way to accomplish what is described above.
Right click on a still in the Timeline. Then click on Field Options in the drop down menu. At the bottom of Field Options, click on Flicker Removal. Then Click OK.
See if this has any affect on the flicker that you are seeing. (Again, remember I am working from Premiere Elements 2.0, so things could have gotten moved around.)

ATR,
I will check on the filter. Thanks for being so patient with me. Is there a way to do a split screen with one side a still image( not moving) say the names of the eleven who started the church in the basement and the other side with just names of families that have passed or stayed through the last 50 years continuing to roll off the screen. the technique in the chuck Engles that you refered me to of part 2 the title of the production is rolling off the screen the image is still just the text is rolling. If I create a page in PSE5 with the eleven names off to the side with some kind of background save as a jpeg and put it at the end of the slide and start other text off to the side of it only make them roll. Is this doable?

Vesta,
There may be other approaches, but I just made it up as I went along using Premiere Elements 2.0. This Titler business has been altered in 3.0, but the basic idea is the same. As you go through this, you will see the options.
Bottom Line:
VIDEO TRACK 1 (not necessary, but) a picture of your church would be nice)
The Titles for Video Tracks 2 and 3 came from: Title Tab/General One/generic 1_credits template.
VIDEO TRACK 2 Title (Title Type: Still with the names of the 11 founding families). This Title is positioned to left using Motion in Properties.
VIDEO TRACK 3 Title (Title Type: Rolling, Direction Left, “Start Off Screen” is checked off) This Title is positioned to right using Motion in Properties.
Tracks in the Timeline were dragged out (lengthened) with Timeline’s Selection Tool to slow movement.
Via New Item, a Black Video was placed at end of any of the Tracks so that the end would be black rather than your Titles left as last view.
Miscellaneous Tips, if needed…..:
(1) Before you setup your Title, be sure to find Roll/Crawl Options and set them. Check out “More” button. Mine were under the More button.
(2) For Motion to work, make sure you have Motion highlighted.
(3) Make sure that you have deleted all those pesky unused “Enter Type Here” spots so that the unused ones do not end up in your video.
(4) Explore the different Type Styles and text options for maximum viewing effect.
I tried this and it works, so, if you get into any hangups, please let me know. I do not believe that you need to use Photoshop Elements 5.0 for this. But, experimentation as well as exploration will tell the story.
