Hello,
I have a a begining clip coming in from the side but it goes out to fast and iI want it to stay on the screen longer; how do I get it to do that? I read were it is better to make your slide shows in PSE5 and then bring them into PRE3. I have already started in PRE3 is there a way to put this in PSE5 or should I start over in PSE5 to get a better slide show. I think pan and zoom was mentioned or could I just put the picture that I want to pan and zoom in PSE5 and bring that into my slide show in PRE3?

Vesta,
Just a few things to explore in Premiere Elements.
Check out Tutorial 10 "Simple Pan and Zoom" via keyframing route at http://www.chuckengels.com. You will find it under the Tutorial Tab at that web site.
Now keep in mind that I have Premiere Elements 2.0, but I suspect it is the same in the 3.0 version more or less, maybe moved around?? In the 2.0 version there is an Effects and Transitions Palette. If I scroll all the way to the bottom, there is a Presets category. Under the Presets category are: Horizontal Image Pans, Horizontal Image Zooms, Vertical Image Pans, and Vertical Image Zooms from which you can select and drag into your clip. BUT, in constrast to doing the keyframing for Pan AND Zoom, the presets would give me only Pan OR Zoom.
I have Photoshop Elements 3.0/Premiere Elements 2.0, but I have looked at the new versions that you now have. If I recall correctly, make sure you select the right options when you go to transfer a Photoshop Elements 5.0 slideshow to Premiere Elements 3.0 for editing. Check me out, but my recollection is to make sure not to convert creation to wmv in Photoshop Elements 5.0 if you are going to transfer to Premiere Elements 3.0 for later editing.
Check all this out in the 3.0 version and see if it will do the job for you.

Vesta,
I got so carried away with Pan and Zoom that I forgot to add a note on slide duration.
For that, check out the Time Stretch Tool taking into consideration the merits of linking or unlinking the duration and the speed when you set the duration. There should be a nice writeup on that in Help under "To set the duration of a clip."
Between keyframing and the Time Stretch Tool offerings, you may find what you are looking for.

My comment is that many people think that it is EASIER to make a slide show in PSE 5 - but I disagree with any general comment that a slide show made in PSE 5 will be BETTER than a slide show made in PRE3.
So I would not recommend starting over.
P.S. The confusion might be caused by comments that Sending the Slideshow creation definiton from PSE 5 to PRE3 (instead of doing the DVD,NTSC choice which creates an intermediate WMV file) can result in better image quality on the final DVD - at least that has been my experience. Or it might have come from someone who did not follow the PRE advice to downsize the resolution of photos before placing them on the PRE Timeline or Sceneline.

Barb,
Thanks for the information. I do redo it but i like the drop and drag of putting photos in PRE 3 better because I can drop them right where I want them. I did redo it in PSE5 but want to learn all I can about PRE3. I need to find a good book and cd for training. I am taking the online class here but need a lot more information.
Thanks again Vesta

My opinion is that the book with the most details is
Adobe Premiere Elements 2 in a Snap
by Steve Grisetti and Chuck Engels
ISBN 0672328534
It can be ordered from Amazon and I have seen it at some Barnes and Nobles and some Frys Electronics.
Don't worry about the fact that it was written for Prem Elem 2. I found it realtively easy to make the adjustments for v3 when I first started using Prem Elem 3 and I continue to use it.
A tutorial was referenced by an earlier poster on this thread - that plus additional tutorials are done by the authors of this book.
There also is the Adobe Classroom in a Book for PSE 5 and PRE 3 - but that is expensive. I saw it at Barnes and Noble, so perhaps you could find it somewhere to at least flip the pages before purchasing.
