These is a wonderful montage and fascinating pictures. Are they original, or have you colored them?

Jack,
I've been collecting NASA pictures with a vague idea of doing something like this, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
I love the way you put it together.

I simply got too inspired to do something useful this morning.

Aah, Rita, you got the horse head and the sombrero: two of the best :)
Jack hasn't been along to answer an earlier question so I'll put my 2-cents in... those colors are probably not enhanced by Jack. That's what you see on the NASA website.
However, on many occasions NASA will apply filters to get a "false color image" (whatever the heck that is) or to isolate light of a particular frequency. But, in all such cases, they tell you what they did in the narrative that accompanies each day's image.

Rusty,
some of these probably are false color images. I never took notes on that, although I always read the descriptions. I didn't change any color, and Jack probably didn't either.
After all the masking out I did, I sharpened a little and then ran a low strength Vevia Action on it, but that only brought it back to about the color level it was to start with.

Hi all,
Glad you all liked them.
Reka-They are as original as I received them in an email going around. I just thought they would make a good montage. I did this on my laptop and changed no colors as color is hard for me to judge on the laptop.
Kev-Thank you. I've been waiting for something different than the animals and landscapes I usually do.
Wendy-Thank you. Your comments and suggestions are always most welcome.
Rita-Thank you. The original photos and sizes were absolutely beautiful. I thought it would be good subject matter. Your addition is envyable.
Tina- Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time comment.
Rusty-Thanks for the detailed reply. I haven't had a chance to reply until now as I have been busy with work and a couple website updates. You were correct-not enhanced. Thanks again for the comments

You both did a beautiful job. The colors you have are inserted by NASA to do some enhancing of what the Hubble Telescope sends back, they are drab as originals. However, the colors are based on (scientific) temperature data, though admittedly not 'exact' as to what we would actually see IF we could. Harvey
