I have a .mov file that plays perfectly (video quality) within QuickTime. I get the following error when I try to import the .mov file:

"Unsupported format or damaged file/One of the necessary components may not have been installed."

Any ideas as to why PE can't import this .mov file?

I have exported the file to a number of different formats using QuickTime Pro, but the quality drops (a lot!).

I'm using Photoshop Elements 5/Premiere Elements 3 on a Windows XP system.

Thank yor for your help.

Kevin

I still have Premiere Elements 2.0, so I am not up to date with the 3.0 version known issues. This is just my incomplete thinking on your question.

Over at the Adobe User to User forum I did see one recommendation (not sure if it applies to your situation):

"Do not import MOV files directly into Premiere Elements 3.0. Use Quicktime Pro to convert the MOV files to DVD AVI, then import the DV-AVI files into Premiere Elements"

Have you gone that route already?
