I've added some collages to my gallery of birthday pictures of a friend's little girl. She didn't like the cake on her hands, so she put her face down into it.:D

I'd love some suggestions on how to get the background white in the photos. Looks like I need to get some lights to help with this rather than having to photoshop them.

Oh Kim what a hoot!!! She looks like she really enjoyed that cake. A great job with the collages.
To get the back ground white, try using a levels adjustment layer.
In the bottom of the layers palette, it's the one that a half black, half white circle. Use the white eye dropper to click on an area that should be white.

Wongerful job Kim. Your friend should love it. Pauline thanks for the tip - I keep forgetting about the eye dropper in levels.

Kim, that's a riot.
What a wonderful, happy little girl and what a great presentation you make of the pictures.

Kim, how cute. Your photos don't look like they lack light to make the background whiter. Just a thought, when was the last time you did a white balance check on your camera? I know I personally haven't done one in awhile and really need to do one.

Pauline, Shari, & Rusty,
Thanks for the comments! We had a lot of fun with Natalie.:)
Pauline,
I had never noticed the eyedroppers in the levels adjustment layer! I had to do a lot of work to the photos since they were dark and that will definitely make it much easier!:) Thank you for the tip, I'm taking photos of my almost-3-year-old niece this week and that will save a lot of time!

That's great, Kim. I think the cake in the face thing is a 1-year-old requirement!

Kim a very quick way to check your images is to have the histogram palette open so that you can see if your levels need adjusting.

Norma, Kathy, Brenda, & Michelle,
Thank you!
I took these pics a few days before her actual birthday. My friend said that when she had her "real" birthday cake at her party she immediately put her hands behind her back. She didn't like the frosting on them and was hiding them this time!:D It's amazing how quickly little ones learn new things! She again enjoyed the frosting by putting her face down in it!

Great job Kim! Capturing little ones on camera can be quite the challenge.

Supernaut,
The great thing about digital is you can take LOTS of pictures and not have to worry about the developing costs!
