I'll apologise now as this has probably been covered MANY times before but I just can't find where.

I recently bought a copy of Premiere Elements 3.
I loaded it up and started using it. I did a few quick video edits and then finished.
When I tried using it the next day I opened the program and clicked 'New Project'. Shortly after doing so I got an error message.
'Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project'
I have no other choices but to click OK which terminates the program.
I have (or at least think I have) updated my audio and video card drivers and also re-installed the software but this has made no difference.
I'm only 'reasonable proficient' with computers so all the help you give would be greatfully received.

I read somewhere to try it in a different user partition. I have done so and it seems fine:eek:

I got a "serious error" message the day after I upgraded my Premiere Elements 2.0 to 3.0, less than two weeks ago. I had worked a little on an existing project that first evening. Then when launching the next day got the error. I found a technote that referenced an issue with having video effects and transitions Favorites. Suggested solutions are to either remove all video effects and transitions Favorites, or delete Effect Presets and Custom Home preference file. I did the former, and have been fine ever since.

Cheers for that Hokiemom but I fear my problem may lay deeper:mad:

My PC has now started to restarts itself sporadically:mad: When I send an error report it tells me there seems to be a problem with my video drivers.
I have updated them but that seems to have made it worse so I will be going to a PC doctor over the weekend to try and get it sorted:( ...more expense:eek:
