Does anyone have either one of these products for Photoshop Elements v5.0?
If yes, can you tell me your experience in using the software and if it is worth purchasing?

Hmmm... They look interesting, but Jodi's Missing Styles has some great stuff too and it's cheaper.

Some of those frames may be just what you need for the photos you are taking. However, at one time I was going to order some from another source, but then I found out about Jodi Frye's, The Missing Styles. The software not only includes frames but many other types of styles. Also, the subscriber section has a number of tutorials that show you how to make some interesting frames. I also discovered that you can go to the Adobe site and download some free shapes...quite a number of them are frames...for the cookie cutter tool. Then, I applied some of Jodi's styles and ended up with some neat frames. Almost forgot another good source...Go to PanosFX...that site has the filmstrip frames, plus a lot of other neat inexpensive downloads. Also, Panos is a delight to work with...very helpful. Jodi is, as well! Just a thought.

Here (http://www.pcreviewonline.com/reviews/extensions/photoframepro3/photoframepro3.html) is a link to a PC-Review on PhotoFrame Plus. About half way down the page there is a link to some free frames the reviewer has made. Click the link, the download says it has a removal date of Jan. 15th but it is still available. There are 110 frames in the zip file. Some are really cool. Click the little green arrow on the left to start the download.

Good evening,
I too, agree that its hard to beat the frames, plus extras I received from Jodi Frye's CD, Iv'e had several comments as to how nice the frames looked, but not what they were framing... Guess that is a indication of the quality of what I have been putting in the great frames,,, Thank You so very much Jodi

Hi ...
The free downloadable frames were created using Extensis Photoframe and they seem to be intended to use with Photoframe Plus ..
It reminded me that a couple of years ago I was given Extensis Photoframe 2.5 and that did lots of frames, frames edges etc ... I used it for a little while but the novelty of playing with it wore off quite quickly and I just stopped using it.
Jodi's frames ... Well I still use those they are my favourites :)

Hi all, just wanted to try Jodi's frames, etc. just where is th link? Also, if I download them how do I get them into PSE4? If I order the CD, would it be a stand alone type file or must it be imported into Elements?
Thanks, Bobbi

Hi Bobbie ...
Take a look in the Subscriber Area>Downloads and you will see them ... the frames are great :)
On Jodi's CD you get lots of layer styles (the frames are layer styles too) ... you just install them into Elements.
Try the ones in downloads and I'm sure that you will like them ...

Hi, just downloaded the sample frames from the download section and unzipped them. NOW... how do I use them and where are they in Elements?
Thanks for help from a fairly new user of PSE 4

Hi ...
OK you have unzipped them ... you should now have a file on your desktop called PET_Frames_styles.asl. Close down Elements ...
You now need to put that file in your PSE4 Software Folder in there you will find a folder marked Presets... open that and inside it you will find a folder called Styles.
It goes in there ...
Then restart Elements and you will find the frames in The Styles & Effects Palette in the Styles section :)

Chris: I use a program called FrameMaster you can find some information at this site: http://www.galleriasoftware.com/index.html The cost is 25.00 which is not bad for everything you get. You can see some of the frames I made with this program at my gallery.

Me,again Wendy, I have the frames in the styles folder, thank you. Now when I duplicated my photo and clicked on a frame, and dragged it to the photo, it did not show up on the photo. I tried using apply but still could not see the frame. I noticed that these are a read only type of file, Is that what they should be?
I believe there are 15 of them, but I guess I need to know how to use them.
Thanks, Bobbi

Hi ...
Open up any of your images ... go to the layers palette and double click on the background layer. When the box pops up just click on OK ... you need to do that as you can't apply a layer style to a background layer :)
The click on one of Jodi's layers styles and it should apply it ...

I just bought but have not yet installed the full version of PhotoFrames Pro. I still have a few days left on the free trial (and, well, lots of other-work-stuff to do at the moment). I got the Pro version rather than the Elements version for two reasons: 1) The Pro version has 5000 frames (and they keep adding more free and pay ones); the Elements version only 500 and 2) the Elements version does not support "Layer Mask Mode." I have Elements 3 and Richard Lynch's tools installed and the Layer Mask Mode in PhotoFrame Pro works with it. I had lusted after it for quite a while and noticed that they had trial versions of each (only 48 frames and combinations available in it) and that they were having a year-end half-price sale. So I downloaded the trial Pro version, fooled with it a few days and then bought before the end of the sale. Since I bought it, you can assume I like it. I figure it will save lots of woman hours fooling around getting a frame that I like--and with 5000 or more frames to fool with (plus combinations), I will probably never run out of ideas. You can apply the frames, combinations or your altered versions as a layer (and then copy and use that layer again if you wish). The cactus pear in my gallery was done with their "acid" frame, if you want to see one used. I also used and altered one of the other frames for my cyanotype photo of the bird of paradise, but don't remember which one at the moment.
They also have a PS action in the downloads area that enlarges the canvas before adding the frame, but don't know if it would work or where to install it in PSE3. Anyone have any ideas
Why don't you try the trial versions and Jodi's frames and see which you like best? Whichever photos you frame with the trial version won't loose them when the trial is over.....

Jane and Kim...here's the sneak preview you asked for...btw, there is no way I can post all 125 frames that are on the disc in one image...but here's a handful of various. There's another ' edges' category that I didn't bother to fit in here...Also, if this doesn't make your eyes a bit buggy then nothing will :) Also have 190 Backgrounds...I think you'll have to wait til I use a few in my gallery  ...or take my word for it that they are kinda nice :)

Harvey, they are all .jpg files. I downloaded the zip file to my Adobe Downloads folder (folder I created in My Documents for all my downloads for Elements). I then just extracted them to the same folder. To use one I just open it in Elements from the folder and do a selection on the center and delete it and then add the photo I want framed behind it (in other words, a new layer below it)

Thanks for the sneak peak of your new CD Jodi! Looks like it will be a great addition to your "Missing Styles" CD.

Thanks so much Jane ! ...Nope, I didn't make 5000 frames ( I'm not that nuts ! ).... I think 125 is a nice number...Also PE5 has the ' favorites' palette which will also help keep track of the ones you really like. I tried to put a bit of everything as far as frames go...hopefully there will be something in there that will please everyone's tastes...I'm hoping :o Also 190 backgrounds has a bit for everyone as well...hoping again !!!! Thanks again !

Jodi, I have PSE5, but have not yet tried out the Favorites. I have been reading in several threads that there is a 'bug' with PSE5, in that everytime a new brush, frame, action; whatever is added, the Favorites goes back to zero. That is a real bummer. It would be nice if Adobe would come up with an update for this to fix it, rather than make us wait until PSE6 is released. :(

Charles I don't think Adobe does patches.......they just release the next verison........who has time for patches when as soon as one version hits the shelves they are working on the next one......and while that bug is fixed another one surfaces. Seems like a rotating cyle to me!!
Jodi, if you had to do 5000 frames, you'd either go crazy or pse 12 would be out!! Well not that I'm saying you are slow or anything......just that you have very high standards. :D

Pauline, you are absolutely right...be more like PE version 22 ! Tho by then everything will be in 3D .... what are those things called ....where an image gets projected in full life size ? Like in the movie ' Minority Report ' ..my mind went blank as to what they are called...ANYways...ya, PE v22 will be like that...of course our computers will be made to accept these kinds of emails...kind of scary...SPAM would have a whole new meaning ;) ... Well, I just mailed Adobe buddy about where the ' Favorites ' folder is located cause frankly I'm tired of looking for it and I have better things to do...like call my phone company and asked them why they are jerking me around on my latest bill :(

Jodi: Love to know what the answer is - I've gone looking, filed bug reports and got nowhere. Sadly I don't think there is a Favorites folder - my guess is that it's buried in one of those database files and when Artwork and Effects regenerates they get lost.
I get round the problem by making my own Favorites folder but it's nowhere near as convenient to add to it as the official one.
