New Computer(s) coming...

Okay, so I've read some of the previous posts on this but because everyone's situation is different, I decided to start a new thread to make sure I understand what I need to do! I currently have a laptop and a desktop (networked), and both are being replaced.

I have some pictures on both and all catalogued in the Organizer. PSE5 is installed on the laptop and will be that way in the new set up as well. What's the best way to move everything to the new computers?

Ward- Thanks for the link, exactly what I need. I'll let you know how it goes, and hoepfully I'll be back to tell you it went smoothly. The computer won't be in for another week or so, so I'll be getting organized in the meantime. Thanks again.

Ward- Just wanted to post back now that I'm up and running on my new computer. The instructions you pointed to me worked great, thanks again! The backup took FOREVER (partly because I had never done a backup that way and so I was backing up from scratch, and partly b/c my computer is on its last legs). The restore part took 45 minutes! And now all my photos (14,000+) are on the new computer.

I'm ready to start playing with PSE again.

Thanks for posting your success.
Just a thought-you may want to do backups more frequently then when you change computers. Always nice to have an extra copy if needed. Okay, off my soapbox.

Ward- I was actually backing all my images regularly but not the catalog. I've learned my lesson!
