Hope ya'll can set some of my confusion about prints straight.
First off, whose idea was a camera that takes 7" x 10.25" photos? Do all DSLRs do this, or just my D80? and why? I just noticed that the viewfinder is divided into quarters instead of thirds? WHY? and WHO has ever found a frame to fit a 7 x 10" print? (I measured that my self, so +/- .1")
Also, I am not sure how to get the best out of my epson C80. I bought some fujifilm premium plus high gloss 8.5 x 11 paper (what a waste with the 7x10 aspect ratio) I know you're supposed to stick with the printer brand paper, but the local wolf camera is going out of business and I got 100 sheets for 17 bucks. I also bought 100 epson 4x6 for the same price (full price). What settings should I be using to get the most out of these papers? I have the elements organizer, bridge and lightroom, which program is best?
Thanks
[EDIT] I forgot to mention that so far my photos taken at 6:30 with f/4.2 and 1/2 sec and 1 sec shutter speeds look as though they were f/6-7 and 1/8 sec (darker details are much less distinct, highlights are just a little more detailed)
I would upload an example, but they are of a columbarium with alter flowers sitting on them and I believe that might be disrespectful. I will describe one instead. It is a bright picture, with a the streetlights illuminating the stone in the foreground with an orangish tone, leading into the alter flowers towards the left. In the background to the right is the beautiful charlotte cityscape with the buildings illuminated by the setting sun with glowing streetligts beneath. It is a lovely picture on my computer but when I print it it turns out so the stone is shown in better detail and the background looks too dark. Please help me fix this, as these photos are for some very special people that took care of my grandmother in her last days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Do I really have to crop them to get them to fit an 8x10 frame? or was my nikon made for europe or japan or something?
