Hi all,
Ive just purchased Photoshop Elements 4 for Mac and I realized that I can't uncheck the Loop option box nor can I change the frame's time delay neither. Is this a known bug?
Thanks, and much appreciated.

Hi Ray
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I selected GIF and Animation, but the Loop and delay feature (shown on the bottom of the image you posted) were not responsive. I use this all the time at work, but it's on a PC. I installed the same software on a different hard drive and a different computer, same thing happened, which makes me think it's the software rather than my computer. Does yours work? Is it also Elements 4?
Thanks
Jake

This was from Elements 4, for Mac. When bizarre stuff happen, you should reset the preferences. However, for the Save For Web, it's a different procedure which I don't remember on top of my head. You need to empty a folder, if I am right.. but which one.. ?

I'd really appreciate it if you could try to remember which folder, Ray... :p
I googled about this matter and found this http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-14077.html, I guess it's not just me then... i wish somebody who's got an answer to this problem could see this thread and post a reply...
Thanks all!

I got it!!.... You HAVE to have more than ONE LAYER in your document!!!

This loop feature takes each layer in your psd file and plays it like a mini player. If you only have one layer ("slide"), it wont loop one slide!!

According to this document : http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/312917.html, the file is located in :

Macintosh HD : Users : (your folder) : Library : Preferences : Adobe Save For Web 3.0 Prefs

However, based on the date and time, I found the file to be so named for Photoshop Elements 4 : Adobe Save For Web 9.0 Prefs

I deleted it on my computer and as soon as I exited the Save For Web dialog, a new one was created. So my guess is that this is the good file.

Hope this helps !

Jake, I agree with Byron I've seen this as a known V4 Mac bug. Did you see the response at the end of your cited thread-It seems to offer one solution.

By chance, are these all Mac machines? I seem to recall that there is a "known issue" (bug!) with this in the Mac edition of PSE4.

Of course, I am ready to stand corrected...:D

AHA! One of my kids in the classroom discovered a way to change the frame delay! When you "Save for Web," change to GIF and check the Animation box, go to DELAY and instead of clicking in the box to change the number of seconds, move your mouse to the area just below the box. When the arrow changes to a cursor, the number "0.2" seconds can now be changed!

Leave it to an eleven-year old!

Thank you, everyone.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes, I do have more than one slide, i mean if I didn't the animation box would have been grayed out anyway...

Thanks again Ray. I will try this tonight when I get home. but to be honest, I don't think it will make any difference. It looks clearly like a bug to me... I am kinda angry that Adobe keeps selling this software knowing there's a bug in it!

Thank you, everyone.

Hi Ward Grant
Thanks for your input. Yes, I did try that and it does work, which is great, but it still doesnt sort out the loop problem. I will give Adobe support a call see what they have to say about this.
Thanks

just got off the phone with Adobe Support, and yes, this bug is known to them and they don't have a solution to it and I was told they might never have a solution to it as they would rather put the efforts in rolling out Elements 5 for Mac. I was quite annoyed to say the least as GIF animation is one of the primary features of PE4. I then called customer service and they refused to give me a refund or a free upgrade to 5 (when it's available) because it's been more than 30 days since purchase.

So, for us who's got PE4 (mac), mind you we didnt know that the product doesnt do what it says on the tin when our money was taken, are stuck basically.

Surely, this is a breach of contract, isn't there anything we can do about this?

Ahh, now I see. I was stating the obvious. I got the seconds to change - thanks for the tip. ;)

I didn't know about the bug until your post. I guess I'm "lucky" that I have an 2nd Mac with 3.0 on it to fall back on  Thanks Adobe
