How do you know that it is time to replace the nib on your Wacom pen? Aside from the obvious ...... scraping noises when you stroke pen across tablet :) .... what signs tell you that it might be time to get out a new nib?

I broke the pen prior to actually wearing out the nib, so I can't tell.. because I had to replace the pen (which comes with nib) ;)

Kathy I think when it starts getting shorter and you are in danger of having nothing to grab to pull it out, it's time to change. I've also notice that because I hold the pen the same way all the time, mine has wore off at an angle. I've had my tablet almost 2 years and just changed the nib about a month ago. (I use it daily so it does get lots of use)

Thanks guys.

Ray  Do I dare ask how you BROKE the pen?

Pauline ...... like your "quilt" in the Challenge. It has an Amish feel to it and the colours are beautiful. Thanks for the input.

Thanks Kathy. Had fun with that one. It was nice to break loose and just do some fun stuff for once. I've been so bogged down with learning new prgrams. In hindsite, I wish I'd used a darker colour around every other square than the light beige which really sticks out......oh well...........

Pauline,

You know what they say ....

"Hindsight is a great teacher" :) .

It is definitely mine.

and I broke my other rule of not posting until later when I looked at it again!! You should never post or print something until you've had some time away from it and come back and look with fresh eyes!! As soon as I saw it on Grant's page I noticed how much the cream colour stuck out and just didn't belong.

I came across this forum because I'm looking for the best way to get my Wacom pen working again (or replacing it). After reading the forum I think the problem is that the nib is gone! It worked fine yesterday.

Is the nib easily replaceable? (It is apparently easily removable!)

Does the disappearing nib trick happen often?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

I've tugged at mine, half-heartedly, and it wants to stay in the stylus. But Wacom does sell replacements for them so I guess it is a consumable part.

I can't imagine how much use it would take to wear one out!
