Ice storm... drops melting

Hi! Had a big ice storm last night. Mostly it's a bad thing (bad driving, power outages, real cooold, etc.) but a good thing is neat photo opps. Like ice melting off tree branches in the yard.....

Just something quick on the succession of a little drop that just couldn't cling on any longer. For fun... :)

jo and gary .... hi !.... jo, this time i only lost power for about 4 hours during the night so no biggie. last big ice storm (dec.) i was without power, including heat, for a couple days and was in a hotel. no fun!

gary, i know what you mean, it does seem like a hassle dragging the big camera out (and the *older* i get the less i wanna! ;) ) so it's gotta be for something good. this time i forced myself up from a nice warm cuppa' joe at the kitchen table and went out there .... plus it was an excuse to try my new 100mm macro :) more lenses are just so fun ...aren't they?! :D

Very nice sequence. Where in the Midwest are you? I'm in Edwardsville, IL and we have been very lucky so far in that it seems to be a couple of degrees warmer on this side of the river and it's not icing as bad. Butch is on the Missouri side and they are getting hammered just a few miles west of him.

hi nancy - i'm on the outer west side of the st. louis metro area. we got it pretty bad, but not as bad as a bit farther northwest in the st. charles area. that's where the highest concentration of power outages is ... hopefully butch is doing ok ....

hi rusty - LOL! nope, no artificial warming methods used! :) just had to sit and wait and give thanks for burst mode then pick 3 out of 100 photos of nothin' !;)

Neat sequence of photos! Thanks for sharing. From our weather reports, I think I'm glad to be in Florida now, with the windows open. I wouldn't know how to handle living in that cold. But I do love the snow pictures to look at.

Well then we're practically neighbors! :D You're closer to Butch in Kirkwood but yeah you guys got it a lot worse than me. One wave left though tonight so I'm keeping my fingers crossed we don't get hammered like we did in December. We still don't have that mess cleaned up in our yard. :eek:
