Hi there,
Newbie here, attempting to enter the challenge I see that the file can't be more than 100k. Not to be 800 pix on an end, okay, i give up. I've resized the file until i can't even see it.. Any help from all of your pro's out there would be most welcome, on the EASIEST way to resize it (or a size that will work)
Thanks

Instead od Save As, choose "save for web" -on the right side of the window you will see the pixel dimensions. Make it 700 pixels on the longest side and you should be ok.:)

And in Save for Web also drop the jpeg quality to something like 30 or less to come in under the 100k limit (it shows you the size under the image)

No one's creativity seems to have been 'clogged' this week -- great images!

ALEX B: Loved the animated clog dance in #1 and the Dutch flag background in #3.
BEN M: The clog boat and mouse is a cute idea.
ANNE T: The inverted color scheme in #1 makes a neat pattern. The Delft pottery look in #2 is great.
A. P: Isolating the color row against the grainy black and white is a great effect.
BILL Z: Polar coordinates with a ripple in #1? Nice use of the picture for the background of the selection. The shoe store in #2 is a neat idea.
CHALLES Y: The clogs-as-pots are great -- I like the way you used the grass/scallions brush.
DAVE D: Interesting use of distortion for the sizing.
DS F: A snake in the clog? Interesting concept.
ELLEN H: Great clog dancing image -- I like the way you used the re-colored shoes for the banner background.
JACK S: I like the flower and sphere compositions -- the paint daubs filter, perhaps? Got a chuckle from #3's Dutch Love.
KATHY N: The veneer tulips are great -- cut from a blurred version of the clogs?
MALCOLM D: Nice use of radial blur to emphasize the unblurred clogs.
MARILYN L: I like the way you picked up the colors and flower pattern for the headband -- cute kid!
PAT C: The distorted clogs make a great umbrella in #1. I like the curtain concept in #2.
PAULINE W: Great work on the quilt -- I love the way you hung it out to dry in #2.
RED S: Clog fish/rocks/lily pads? Neat idea!
RITA G: Neon edges? I like the way the minimal pattern & line define the shoe against the gradient.
RUSTY: I like the conceit of the patterned clogs serving as the pattern on a set of clogs.
TAB A: Love the Cinder-Allen take on the clogs.
TONY W: The barefoot prints leading away from the clogs are a great idea.
TRACY K: Interesting selective enlargement.
WARD G: Have to go with the squished feet in #2 as my favorite -- neat concept!
WENDY W: Interesting variations on a theme -- I like your use of the gradient to give the windmill depth and the simple outlines to define the image elements.

Bob,

yes, Glowing Edges. I discovered recently that this filter can make a very effective selection tool, all by itself, on the right image. Just added some color variation and a very small amount of erasing. A super-fast job.

Maybe everybody knew this, but I had never come across a reference to it.

Super work everyone!! :D
It seems like winter came and took away my creativity. :(

I went through and looks at the artist photos. Nice to see so many of you. It was like meeting old friends. (I meant the old in a good way);)

Bob,
Glad you liked my shoe-pots...:) I've used that brush on winter scenes to turn brown cattails to green ones in the snow.

Bob - Thanks for the comments. #1 was a radial spin. I liked the idea of the shoe store in #2 but don't think I did a very good job... I hope to do better with the next wooden shoe challenge. Thanks again for commenting.

Bob,

Thanks for the comments. I personally prefer the globe and platter. I like the colorations. Thanks again.

Hi Bob ...

... and thank you for the comments :)

This one was a Challenge to me as I was totally out of idea (of course by now I can think of loads... but isn't that the way :)) ... so I decided to "paint" the scene on the clogs. It was fun experimenting with different techniques :)

I haven't had a chance to look at the entries yet but hopefully I will be able to later today ..

Thank you Bob for the comments.

Yes ..... a motion blur on the original photo after first applying the cut-out filter and then shearing to give curves ...

Thanks again.

Bob,
Thanks for taking the time to comment on all the entries. I enjoyed the ones, such as yours, that worked in the Dutch flag colors. I also enjoyed Ellen's clogging (shoes and dancing) word association and Tony's footprints in the sand.

I have just realised that Challenge 207 hasn't been posted ... I wonder if Grant has been too busy to do it ?

Wendy, I kept watching last night for it to post. I have only done a couple and I am really in the mood to challenge myself and am looking forward to this weeks challenge. I couldn't think of anything to do with the wooden shoes.

4:00 p.m. Friday Central Time US-just clicked on the Challenge click and get the Can Not Open error. Tried about 10 minutes later and got same message.

Just curious-do we know Grant's move date to his retirement dream home? I'd volunteer we suspend the challenge that week (or even two weeks) as I am sure he will have more important things to consider.

Ward... I have to agree. Maybe we can do our own when Grant is moving. We could just post the image to Pixentral. I would love to try one of those that have 3 or 4 different images and you have to come up with something.

I will even volunteer to supply the images. Or maybe we can post a few and vote? Lots of free photos out there.

If it helps at all, next week's photo theme (#66) is posted a bit early.

Hi ...

I supect that Grant is having problems with his service provider again ... similar to the problems he had the other week.

I would have thought if he was in the process of moving then he would have let us know ...

Wendy :)

Wendy: I checked and you're probably right - all of cavesofice.org is down - not just Grant's page.

I was looking and got this- http://home.cogeco.ca/~challenge/Present/Alex_Barna_3.html
How odd it's 177- Does this link work for anyone? It's not cavesofice but I assumed that old ones went away.

Hi Ellen ...

Grant uses a Cogeco email when his own is down so it looks like that very old challenge may have been on it sometime in the past ... :)

The Challenge entries on it are not complete its just some of them ...
