Thanks Gary--The pic that is in the post is the before snap shot. I found how to just post them to the gallery and I did so. I was hoping to get a critique on them but - "oh well" maybe I'll relearn how to do it correctly. I went through this bit about posting to the forum a while back and thought I had it down pat, but I haven't yet. I've got all the directions from you kind and patient people printed and safely stored with my notes. Now let's see---what draw or file are they in? BillandCat:)

Bill what a nice job colorizing the photo. Here (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/gallery/view_img.php?id=16177) is the link to your gallery with the before and after photos.
Also, here are Wendy's instructions to adding your gallery
link to your signature so it is in all your post.
Click on User CP at the top of the page then on Edit Signature and copy and paste this into it:
[333url=http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/gallery/viewgallery.php?user=xxxx] My Gallery[/url]
Where it says My Gallery type in what you want to show in your signature.
Now remove the 333 and where it says xxxx type in your user number. Make sure that you don't add any extra spaces ..
To find your user number ... click on Access my Gallery then click on "Share my Gallery" and you see the user number there.

I like the way you pulled her into a different background. That house was distracting. The only thing I think I would change is to soften the yellow color a bit, but that is just a personal preference. Great Job!

Thanks for the kind comments and if my memory has not gone completely, the names are Charlotte, Sherrie, Wendy, Linda, Kim, and Gary. It sounds like a list of names that belong in a little black book that is kept secret. Sherrie, the retouching was mostly needed on the background so it was easy. The snapshot was taken with a Kodak box camera in 1940 when I was going with my wife. It makes a nicer memory. I tried that sugesting about a lighter yellow but for some reason, I had trouble. What mode should I use when coloring a black and white pic.? Thanks everyone, BillandCat:)

Hi BillandCat, this is a fantastic before/after! I, too, like helping out old photos and this is just great! Welcome, you will just love this place. I'm rather new too and I've learned SO much from this site and the great people here. :)

Hey Bill, I love the background you used, and the boots turned out real nice. I think the grass is too green. Can grass be too green? Well, maybe, I don't know, but it pulls my eye away from the lady's beautiful smile. I would work more on the face, try to lighten the shadowed side just a bit, and tone down all the other colors. Less green grass and a whiter shirt yellow no so much.
