View Full Version : Would this be a good idea?

Does anyone else think that it would be nice to know what kind of camera/cameras are being used for the photographs posted in the galleries? I have seen this information posted on other sites and it's nice to know ..... especially if you are in the market for a new camera.
You know what they say ...... a picture is worth a thousand words.

Hi Kathy,
If people would like to post their camera info as part of their caption, they're welcome to do so!
Thanks for the suggestion!

I think an excellent training series would feature Jodi and Wendy teaching us how to paint with PSE....don't you?

Creativity is always a welcome treat. Based on some of the outstanding work posted in the gallery, maybe the editor of the Elements magazine might consider accepting some articles from some of our talented members, if they would be so kind as to share their knowledge.
Getting back to Kathy's original question, I think it would be a great idea if there was a place to input specific info such as camera make, amount of MP, etc.
As the administrater pointed out, this can be added now in the comments section, but how many people do this.
The point is, people don't supply this info whitout a form, and it is nice to know. Therefore, I agree with Kathy.

Unfortunately, there's no way to add a form for this to the gallery upload page, so we'll have to rely on folks to include the info in their caption, if they so choose.
You might want to say what camera was used, and if you like, you can include camera settings or any other pertinent information about the image.
For those who post graphic art, or photorealistic pieces, you might want to list what techniques or filters were used.
Maybe, as some of us begin to add that sort of info, others will see it and catch on!

Al ...... that's a great idea about the articles from the members for the Newsletters. Especially for the graphic art and photorealistic pieces which I for one would like to learn a lot more about.
Karoli ..... a great idea for a series on painting with PSE 3.
Now .... of course .... all the members who share their knowledge in articles or training should be HIGHLY PAID for their work. It's hard to put a price tag on talent and I am continually amazed at the generosity of the members on this site (those who visit often know who I mean)....who lend their time and expertise to freely help others. They all deserve a round of applause and a great big thanks.

Kathy,
The easiest way to learn about different techniques is find an image you like and then just ask how the person did it ... most people are quite happy to share info.
Another good thing to do is to try taking part in Grant's Challenge, simply because you don't have long to do it in you have to try new things out and once again if you see an effect you like then just ask .. :)

Regarding the extra info.... I've been thinking it would be nice to have next to the Author's name on their forum posting, along with location etc, a place with "main camera or scanner"and "computer" so that when answering questions people who need to know would have that info available. But of course it's hard enough just getting people to fill in Location. :)
And then it would also be fun to have everyone's picture next to their names too. :)
And while you're at it could I get a ham and cheddar on rye with mustard?

Thanks Wendy.
I will start to ask more ..... but I don't want to feel like a pest!
I love to play and I have made a few submissions to Grant's Challenges in the "Photography " category. I must get brave enough to try the other, because it does look like a lot of fun.
So much to learn ..... so little time.

Kathy ...
Please ask as many questions as you like ... its a great way to learn and I certainly learned a lot by doing just that.
So ask away ... you won't be a pest
.... and do be brave and try the Challenge .. it is fun. This weeks image is a tomato ... Ummmmm. Not too sure what to do with that yet :)

OK then ...
.. I have made a start on adding more info to the captions. It isn't possible to add too much and you have to be careful because you can type more in the box than will show on the screen.
Can someone check out my "Egg cup" one and see if the information seems OK on it. I had to shorten it quite a bit so I'm not sure if it is.

Wendy,
I checked it out . I always thought that there was a lot of work to creating those wonderful images ...... now I know for sure. You gave a great overview of the steps required to create the image.
Funny ... when I looked at your gallery ... I smiled when I saw that one and was wondering .... how did she do that?
Thanks for sharing your technique.
