Has anyone ever had this problem....and if you did, how did you solve it?

In my Elements 3.0, I did some housekeeping and deleted some of the custom shapes I never use. After that, when I went to Edit > Preset Manger....under Preset Type, Custom Shapes is no longer listed. All that is listed is Brushes, Swatches, Gradients, Patterns.

My folder of Custom Shapes under Presets is still intact, and I can still use the Custom Shape tool with them, but there is no option for Custom Shapes under Preset Manager.

I tried resetting preferences with Ctrl-Shift-Alt while restarting the program and it has no effect. The reset preferences dialog doesn't even come up. I completely uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and still no Preset Manager for Custome Shapes. Anyone with any ideas?

Hi Diana ...

Try Control Alt Shift again ... but this time hold down the keys with one hand and then click on the start up icon with the mouse in the other hand.

Lets see if anything happens this time ... if not then you may have to find the file and manually delete it. Being on a Mac I don't know where it is in Windows but hopefully one of the others may know ..

Seeing that you have done a reinstall the prefs file is about the only thing that is still there from the old version

I just realised something .... :o

Elements doesn't have Custom Shapes in the preset manager you only get brushes, swatches, gradients and patterns ...

Those are the only ones they included on Elements ... Photoshop has Custom Shapes but not Elements :)

Wow, I could have sworn I had used Preset Manager to combine some custom shapes from different sets into one set a while back. Must be my old age catching up with me.

I had been using PS 6.0 earlier in the day to make some new custom shapes and then I tried to combine some other sets. A couple of the sets Photoshop wouldn't open, saying they weren't compatible. So that's when I went to PSE to try to do it and found no Custom Shapes in Preset Manager. Thanks for setting me straight. What would I do without a group like this to go to for answers?:D

I have spent AGES  trying to work out why the Preset Manager didn't show Custom Shapes. Thank goodness for Elements Village as the answer was there! Why on earth was it removed from PSE 7? At least I now know there isn't a missing file from the Programme! :) The help on here is tops! :D

Hmm, I checked my 'presets' folder and I have twenty showing.
I'm using PSE-7

If you want, I can copy the names down and post them here?

Hi Sue,

It never was in any version of Photoshop Elements. In my old post, when I mentioned I was using it in PS 6, that was full version Photoshop 6, not Photoshop Elements.

I believe Custom Shapes in not included in the Preset Manager in Elements because Elements cannot create custom shapes, it only uses them.
