Great start for the glass theme.
I'm embarassed to submit my entry, but hey, I'm still learning.:D
I should have moved faster so the thread would have evolved continually, rather then coming to a dead stop......:o
Love the ideas you folks are coming up with.

Don't be so modest Mary. Your entry is great. I was thinking of doing my entry on a black background but I thought it would be too much work. Your entry is Winonawonderful.
Great topic Bill. Glass is more than just an item, it's a concept.

Tony, did you use a polarizer filter? Those shots are great!
I'm building my case for why I really need one..... I would love to photo glass, I find it so beautiful. Your images are so good, especially the ship in the bottle so I'm wondering if a filter makes that kind of a difference.
You obviously took your time to get the lighting just right!

Steven, great image to start off this week's challenge
Ritage, amazing collection and so well presented
Suzi, love both of your entries, especially the first one - would never have thought to try that
Tony, your glass ship in a glass bottle is amazing; the lighting is just perfect
Mary, your glassware looks simply perfect on the black background
Debra, glass can be tricky but you have found the trick and used it well
Tony, magnificent colours and great angle
Nancy, that is absolutely beautiful
Ellen, the stem has come out just marvellous
Bill, great shot of your two pieces of glass
Rusty, great use of the filter, it certainly makes the glass look magical
Eddie, what a treasure. I use Pixentral to embed an image in my post; when you try it just make sure you use the bottom link and click on it three times to get the whole link selected, then just copy and past the link into your post
Ellen, another great shot. It is hard to believe you have used the same glass
Gary, Now that is thinking outside the box, well done
Pat, like the way the glass distorts the corks
Mary, great shot. Congratulate your son's girldfriend, she did a terrific job
Karen :)

Karen - thanks for taking the time to comment. Your entry was great! I liked the attitude of the red bird and the contrast between the styles of glass a century apart.
I agree .... everyone's entries were very good!!

Tony, did you use a polarizer filter? Those shots are great!
No I didn't as I don't have one the right size for the lens I was using or an adaptor. I did those pictures in a simple little light tent I have and bounced flash off the ceiling above it - so the light was pretty well diffused by the time it got there and not much of it - longish exposure (around 1/30th sec)and high ISO - one was at ISO 400 and one at ISO 1600. Needed to go that high to let me use a small aperture and get more depth of field when shooting up close. So I solved the lighting problem with glass by using as little as possible :)

Karen: Thanks for the comments. Really enjoyed that one - weather not good up here so it was a good subject to work on inside and discover how hard it really is to photography glass. Lots of good pictures from everyone.

I thank you too Karen for commenting on our photos. If you have time could you try that send warm weather action again? It hasn't been above freezing here for days and that's just not right.

Karen,
thank you. I'm glad you like my "collection". Only, I don't have one. It's a single piece of crystal photographed lying on different backgrounds, mostly shawls and plates, under a desk lamp.
No Photoshopping involved, except for cutting out the circles and arranging them. I confess, I did it several weeks ago, took about 30 shots and these were the best. Some were horrible.

A thought for some themes if you get stuck.
Pick a letter .. kind of along the lines of the 7 theme.
Heck, that is way over 10 themes right there, if you use the whole alphabet.:D:D

And for those thinking I've no doubt been swamped with ideas, Gary's was only the second. So put on your thinking caps and let me know what idea's you come up with!

Steven,
Those storms were a long way from us, we did not even get any wind or rain!
Ellen,
You can have my hot weather day today, please. It is 37C (about 99F) today!
