View Full Version : Way OT.. iTunes question

I seem to have messed up my podcast library. Somehow I have duplicate channels with SOME duplicate broadcasts.
Is there a way I can just delete the channels or broadcasts (seemed to have that covered) but then reimport it all?
Whenever I go to "add to library" it always brings up my music collection and the podcasts can't be found.

I have deleted individual podcasts by having them up on itunes screen, selecting one (highlight) go up to edit - and click delete buttin and follow the prompts saying to trash all the way thru. Using a mac - not sure if windoze is the same way.
Never tried to see if they would import again - hopefully someone much wiser (or at least a little more wiser) will come along and answer that part of the question.

Thanks.
I had a couple of ones I didn't care about and managed to delete them from iTunes without taking them off my HD. These were my experimental ones. I can't seem to find how to reimport them. It is not that critical but I am trying to fix my double channel thing. What is happeneing is, it tries to download the same thing twice because of the double listings.

Let me try to understand - you have 2 "Adobe Photoshop Elements Killer Tips and below each of them (by clicking the arrow thingy) are the different podcasts - eg. clipping mask, etc. - or do you have just 1 Adobe Photoshop Elements Killer Tips and below that are two of each of the individual podcasts?

I have the latter (although it did not happen with Elements Killer Tips). But I do not want to steal this thread from the original poster.

Marie - it seems that somehow you might have gotten signed up twice for the podcast. One possible way to get around this is to unsubscribe and subscribe anew. I haven't had the situation that you have and not really sure why you would get 2 except for what I said above.
Good luck
PS - if you don't want to unsubscribe - you could always just click on one of the duplicates and delete that one podcast.

Different subscription but for the sake of making this easy
I have two elements killer tips podcasts (with the arrow)
some of the actual podcasts are dups so say 1 , 2 and 3 are in one killer tips group and 3,4,and 5 are in another group. But it seems now they both will try to download 6 when it is posted.
I'm not so concerned as to how this happend ..I think it had to do with some file backup/moving and reinstalling during a recent upgrade.
Im not even concerned with the files themselves .. I know where they are.
What I would like to do is clear both killer tips "groups" and have just one with all the podcasts that I have saved, in it. I can't see a way to bring 1 and 2 into the group with 3,4 and 5 in it. or for that matter get rid of both and get all into a new one.

Gary- My suggestion (and it is only a suggestion) would be to totally delete one of the killer tips podcasts (with the flippy arrow). Then just to the right of the one that you have left should be an arrow pointing to the right. Click on that. That should bring up another screen which is the subscription screen.
At the bottome of that screen is the listing of the 4 current podcasts. Find the one(s) that you need in the left over Photoshop Elements Killer tips folder - and to the far right is a get episode button. Let it do it's thing and the podcast will end up in the folder (at least it did for me). I tried this doing it with a podcast I already had - and sure enough - there were 2 of the same podcasts in the folder.
Not sure if I'm helping you with this - but hopefully I am.

Gary, If I'm understanding you correctly, then I would recommend that you:
a. Completely delete both podcast lists. (Edit > Delete)
b. Subscribe once via the iTunes Store.
Upon doing (b), your computer will see that you have no episodes of the podcast in question. It will download the newest episode and provide the opportunity for you to download any or all of the others, as desired.
If that's completely off track, perhaps you might post a screen shot of what's happening so we can offer better suggestions.

Thanks ... You both got it.
One thing I can't seem to do is get a list of the ones that I have "saved" but are no longer on my removed list.
Don't worry too much .. I'll have a better look in the AM.
