Cannot export images

Am running PSE 5 and having problems exporting images to a flash drive ( drive F). Here is my sequence - I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me where the problem occurs.
in PSE 5 select the image(s)
click file>export>as new file
screen shows image(s)
click browser (path is my pictures/adobe/334)
click OK
click export (dialogue you have successfully exported etc
click OK
close Elements

Open Explore
open my pict/adobe/334 when I open the 334 file it shows a thumbnail of the image(s)
drag image(s) to the F drive
close all

When I open the F drive it shows the PSE camera icon for each image exported but no image. If I open the icon, the computer opens Elements 5 Organizer.

What am I doing wrong?

Just a guess are you maybe just making a shortcut to the pictures on your F drive.
What happens when PE opens?? Does the photo open with it?

Thanks for your reply Gary. In repeating the process in order to get an answer to your question, everyting worked. I hjave no idea why it didnt a few hours ago - I attempted the export several time and always got the camera icon. Now it seems to work OK. Go figure.

I managed to export fine while I was testing your process, but I couldn't find my thumb drive to try the finshing steps.:rolleyes:

I just tried it again and the im,ages that I could open on the Flash drive ( F) have again been replaced by images of the PSE camera icon. When I double click on them, PSE 5 Organzer opens with the image. Obviusly something is very wrong. I am lost.

Don't worry too much it is probably something we are just missing.

I don't export so I'm learning as we go. I still can't find my thumbdrive also.:D

A few questions.
Can you export straight to the f drive? Same result?
Is the file size on the f drive once moved, the same as the exported one?

I have a feeling everything is ok (file wise) but for some reason the f drive is using Elements as the default jpg viewer.

I have a couple of other suggestions but we will go a few steps at a time.:)

I beleive I have solved the problem. When I open the Flash ( drive F) I was getting the PSE 5 camera icon. Under VIEW the default setting was "icon" so I changed that to "thumbnail" and was able to see the image.
However, I cannot set the default setting to "thumnail". Where do I go to do that?

At least all is well image wise.

I thought that that setting was sticky. It just remembered the last setting. Maybe removable media is different. I didn't think it was.

I'm going to have to find my thumbdrive.:)
