Greetings:
Can some kind soul tell me how to get my images to show by file name in lieu of date in catalogs? Thanks.

As a matter of fact Colin has recently posted. If you click on his site there are some very fine pointers regarding the very thing you are after. There are some very good additional things to read there as well. Harvey

On the very bottom left corner of your screen is a drop down list the default is Date newest first, you have several options of how to display them, oldest first, import batch, & file location. I tried to insert a screen shot but I couldn't figure it out.

One more thing I forgot to add is that for some reason I cannot figure out when I have my organizer in Folder location my Organizer freezes up. I have about 13,000 Digital Scrapbooking files in it so I never view my catalog that way.

Patty-just curious-have you tried a File>Catalog>Recover lately. This may help with your Folder view.
You could also try to rebuild the thumbnails, just in case you have a corrupted thumbnail somewhere. Edit>Select All then Edit>Update Selected Thumbnails.
With 13,000 files, I would do this when I can walk away from the machine for at least an hour.

Ward-
I haven't tried that for awhile but I'll set it tonight and see how it shows up in the morning and then I'll try it and let you know, thanks again.

Be sure to try the File>Catalog>Recover first-this fixes 98.274921% of most Organizer problems. It may "freeze" at either 33% or 66% (seems like the two most common sticking points). If it does, just let it ride; I've yet to have a Recover that did not eventually finish.

Grant as usual you are right on! Maybe I can get you to come to California and vacation for awhile? I'm sure my husband wouldn't mind because the screams would stop coming from my office everytime I try to do something new! The recover did stick at 66% for a little while and I don't know how long the Update of the selected thumbnails took because I set it before I went to bed. The organizer is working at top speed and it also works in folder view great. Thanks again!

Glad it worked out.
The File>Catalog>Recover is a nice cleanup to do monthly. Access seems, in my opinion, to get "lost" easily and this helps it find its way home.

notekie,
I am soooo new that I can't even spell PSE but, if I understand your question and I may not, I had a similar question. If you are wondering how to get a label like "dscf0016.jpg" to appear under the thumbnail with the date, go to Edit>Preferences>General and turn on the check box next to "Show File Names in Details". Don't know if this is what you wanted or not.
