Don't need to know about retouching, but rather would like a book with some ideas on using Elements for jazzing up a photo like we did with the wedding photo tutorial or turning a photo into a painting..... That kind of thing.
Anyone have suggestions? (wish I was close to a decent bookstore to go browsing)
I have an order ready for Amazon for hubby that I want to meet the free shipping limit, so need some answers quick. Thanks!

Hi Kerri,
You might want to check into Scott Kelby's book, "Photoshop Elements 3 Down & Dirty Tricks" for some cool effects, or Dave Huss' book "50 Ways to Create Cool Pictures," which features a lot of painterly effects.
Hope this helps!

Jodi, I'm seriously considering a tablet. buy.com has a "$30 off if you get our credit card" deal. Went to the U to try one out in the art department but their Photoshop wasn't working so I didn't get to play.

Thanks gang,
I do have the Kelby ....Digital Photographers book and thought maybe I'd try a different author just to ....be different.
But I like Kelby and maybe D&D may be the way to go. In fact our little Waldenbooks might even have it to flip though.
(Hubby can stay with the kids, I think I'll run to the mall. )
More suggestions still welcome!!

Kerri,
Since you liked the little tutorial done on wedding photography, you might well consider Scott Kelby's Photoshop for Wedding Photographers Personal Seminar. It consists of a DVD and a workbook. Both teach different layout effects, however - so you're getting a lot. Basically it teaches the photographer how to create a storybook wedding album. However, if you like elegant photography, it can be adapted. Here's a link -

I've heard some really good reports about the book & DVD. I like to browse through books before making up my mind so next time we visit the nearest big city I am going to try and find it in one of the large bookshops.
Sounds like it could be a good buy :)

Hi Kerri,
You might want to check into Scott Kelby's book, "Photoshop Elements 3 Down & Dirty Tricks" for some cool effects
I can also recommend Down & Dirty Tricks. It contains 80+ mini tutorials on cool effects, all of which you can create in PSE3 without the need for add-ons or plug-ins. The effects include portrait and studio, montages, text, 3D packaging, artistic work, reflections, special edges etc... etc...

D&D it is.
Ran to the mall, flipped through the book.
Found it on ebay. Won the bid. Paid for it. Hopefully it will arrive soon.
Thanks Everyone!
