A woman after my heart! That was the first new car I ever bought, in 1972! :D Mine was white with black stripes. I sold it six months later when the company transferred me overseas. Took a bath on the sale.

Colleen too many parallels in our lives!!! My husband WANTED a mustang two years ago but I've managed to put him off. (a convertable though) This year he's getting one and I have to keep my mouth shut since he's been waiting so patiently. He adamently denies that mid life crisis exists!! (he'll be 50 Aug. 2008). So we'll be paying for a mustang and our eldest to be in collage this year. I've lost quite a few night sleep!

Jodi, you know my opinion on sports cars!! One place where we differ.

Yesterday I saw a '66 mustang going down the road...brought back great memories of a high school boyfriend. Then I got closer and the liscense plate was one of those that say "antique"! I thought those were reserved for those old restored Model T's! I feel so old.:(

Funny Carol. Well I won't tell him that. I don't know what colour he's getting but I think he'll be getting used, so it will be whatever is available. I just don't want a yellow one!

phen, now that's a face ! It reminds me of someone but I just can't put my finger on it !

Re Mustangs...funny when they put the new mustangs out...I was totally in the love with retro meets the Jetsons and it was something I really really wanted ( I even used it as a theme in one of the contest here...the ' New ' contest...it was a ' new dream' at the time ;) .....but so many people have them now that I'm bored with it. ...Oh, and might I mention that most of the drivers are white haired...lol...we'll see what happens with the Challenger. :)

Thanks Tom...lotto would be the only way since I refuse tio have a car payment !

Pauline, I can't help it...it's in my blood. My brother builds and races classic stock as well.

Jodi I think that's why my husband wants it NOW before he's white haired!!! I think the reason for the white haired thing is that's when most parents finally get their kids out of the house and find they have a little money to spend on themselves!! (okay.......well I'm hoping that will happen!)

Jodi - Love that car. I had a Dodge Charger in 1970. Similar, and did it go fast!! Butch, you made me LMAO too!!!! Sometimes the forum is the perfect place to start the day!

Pauline, exactly ! Who the heck can afford it when ya got kids ?? Besides, happy meals in the backseat of a new Challenger kind of just don't mix ! The hated minivan has become a breeding ground for candy wrappers, crayons, toys...all that back seat junk that I prefer to pretend doesn't exist ;)

Anyways, it will just be something esle to drool over at the end of the year

Oops Betsy must have posted while I did... a 1970 Charger sounds awesome too ! Only had one nice car...don't even remember what year it was...a Firebird with a 400 in it that only did it's thing when it was real hot...so I had to drive it around a bit and beat on it a bit before i attempted to blow some doors away....ya, I was bad but that was in a past life ( seems like it anyways ;) )

Well Jodi, I love my mini van!! I prefer to be higher up when driving, so mini van, truck, etc. are my favoured vehicles. When hubby brings his buddy's corvette home for the odd weekend, I feel like I'm sitting on the bloody road..........The one time he let me drive it I did like the feel of the gas pedal under my foot though!! I guess maybe I'm never too enthused when he brings it home is because I never get to drive (even though the friend said, it was okay...hubby doesn't like being in the passenger seat---well unless he's drinking and then I come in useful!!)

BUT when we get the new car, I'll be sure to post a picture for you.....along with the bank statement...............that will help heal the pain of your waiting for your turn.

Jodie, brings back memories of my first muscle car, '73 340 Duster with Hurst linkage 4 speed. Could not be beat in San Jose,:p Black with white pinstripping and chrome reverse wheels all around. I was in the Navy and eventually had to sell it to a college student at the time, sold it in '74, got back nearly what I paid in cold hard cash. I will always remember that next to my '32 Model B Ford with bored and stroked 302 Chevy small block with '70 Pontiac GTO rear end and 4 speed Muncie, deep metallic Monterey Blue paint job.

Yes there was another side to me besides a Navy Career.:D

Ric, well those are some fond memories I'm sure....no doubt your first true loves ;) A Romance that can't be broken....That was the downfall of dating motor heads....what to get for the car was always more important than what to get for the girlfriend  ...but then the girlfriend always knew that the best gift for the boyfriend was something for his car :) ...Ah what a girl did for love... key word; ' did ' :D

Jodi,

I would love to have one of these new callengers also but with my daughter entering college this year... Oh well maybe I can find a good used one in about 10 years after my son graduates. :D Meanwhile here's a take on it for you.

Mark, that's wonderful...certainly put a smile on my face ! I said I wouldn't want another car payment so it's not bloody likely I'll have one of these beauties either... lotto sucks ! ...Most of the time i only get one number right ! Maybe if I played more than $2 a week I'd have a better chance  I wouldn't mind a car payment...if cars weren't the worst investment of all time ! They say ya lose $5,000 of it's worth the second you drive it off the new car lot. I can't make that work for me ;)

I never kept a picture of them but... I had a '69 Mustang Coupe with the 302 and a '69 Chevelle with the 350, Rochester Quadra-Jet, 4 on the floor with a Hurst linkage and a full bench seat. Man!! I miss that car a lot!! I just wish that I would have kept pictures of them. Oh, almost forgot the '72 Pontiac LeMans Deluxe with the 400/400 PowerGlide 2spd tranny. God I'm getting younger just thinking about them.:D :D :D
