Robyn, Karen, Two Aussies and any others down under - I hear a horrible storm is brewing and they are already calling it "the Perfect Storm". Hope none of you are in the path of this monster.

Wow, I am amazed that you have heard about the storm. The storm is because of an ex-tropical cyclone interacting with a high level disturbance and it is expected to do an awful lot of damage. Fortunately for me, we are not in the storm's path and Robyn is on the other side of the country, so she is well away from it.
The following map shows the area expected to be affect by the storm

We have had 23mm (nearly one inch) of rain but not from this storm.

I’m in the Fraser Valley area of British Columbia, Canada, and we have had a succession of rain and wind storms. According to the news much of Canada is much warmer that normal with people in the usually cold climates walking around in shorts. Crazy weather. I see that Yellowknife is - 19c ( about zero f ?) so I guess they are still getting some winter.

Karen and Robyn - Stay safe!!! Sunny and cool in No California. My son lives in Denver Colorado area, and the whole front range is still recovering from back to back blizzards. Then I heard on the news tonight it's 55 degrees in New York City today, and record breaking warm in Chicago. Strange weather patterns for sure.

I am glad you started this thread Nancy. I also saw the news about "the worse storm in 30 years to hit Australia" on my home page a while ago and the first thing I thought of was if any members will be affected. Glad to hear nobody is any danger. I'm in southern Ontario Canada and we are usually in the middle of a deep freeze by now but have had no snow and unusually warm weather. Although I personally am enjoying it, I know it's not a good thing. Jill B

Yeah our weather in Illinois is wierd too. We had the ice storm several weeks ago and then it warmed up. It's in the mid-50's today and we should have temps in the low 20's and should even have snow on the ground. It's January and other than the freak ice storm it feels more like spring. Crocus are coming up and trees are starting to bud again. That's really bad because if we do get hit with something it will ruin everything.

Thank you Nancy for the start of this thread.
The weather has been weird for sure. I still think they are blaming it on el nino.
Karen, glad to know you and Robyn are out of harms way. I appreciate the map posted too. Gives insight as to where y'all are.
Its been extra warm and wet, just dreary around here. the grass needs cutting and my hibiscus are blooming.
