About 8 years ago we needed a computer. My husband is artistc and wanted to explore computer graphics, so at the advice of someone "in the know" we bought a Mac. Then the family all chipped in and gave him Photoshop5. Well, he didn't follow through, and now the Mac sits in the corner, unused except for tracking the houshold budget. We can't even do the internet banking on it anymore unless we upgrade the OS.
Now I'm into my new dslr and Elements (on my PC), and I read a lot of things here from all the Mac users that make me wonder if I'd like to use the Mac. Also, Dave is watching my progress with Elements and I think that if the MAc was updated he'd like to get more involved in digital photography with his old Mac. So my question is...can I beef-up that old Mac to be acceptably usable in today's world, or would I need to start from scratch with a whole new computer. I'd be willing to put some money into it, up to a point.
It's a G3. I think it has 256MB of RAM, don't know the size of the hard drive, but it ain't much, OS 9.2. If you need any other details just tell me how to find them. I have a feeling this Mac is a lost cause, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks in advance for any advice.
