Thank you for that information. That is probably going to be helpful to anyone looking for a guarantee on being able to pay for the next upgrade, rather then wonder if they can.

Oddly enough, this issue and other issues I've read in the forum have confirmed why I am hesitant at paying for extremely new software.

There were a few first batches that were shipped that mistakenly contained the "educational version" splash screen. There is absolutely no difference in the program itself! (There are no "different versions" of E3). You aren't missing a thing nor are these "worth less" next upgrade time.

If I held off buying any program unless it was perfect out of the box and didn't need any patches, I'd never end up buying anything...

to 'goofup' you have missed the point. With the educational version you can NOT use PSE3 for business purpose. ie you can NOT earn money from it's use to create or modify etc any image, that violates the agreement with Adobe.

Try phoning Adobe ... some else has done this and been given a new serial number. They reported that when using the new serial number the "Educational" splash screen no longer appears.

Its worth a phone call

Wendy already did call and was given a number and told thta tech support would email sn and instructions. Once you have it installed there is no way to change the sn.

Glad to hear that you have spoken to Adobe ... hopefully the instuctions will arrive soon. A lot of people seem to have the same problem so will be interested in how you go on http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ubb/smile.gif

Ah, you didn't mention it was for business in the original post. In that case, it might be worth the hassle of getting a new SN and reinstalling.

For me, as a hobbyist, it isn't.

Even if you don't intend to use it for business purposes it is probably still worthwhile getting a new number as Educational Versions are not allowed to be resold and maybe sometime in the future you may want to resell it ... like when a new version comes out http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ubb/smile.gif

I just called Adobe elements 3 and gave my information concerning educational copy and they replied as stated above that they will send an email with new Ser. # and then reinstall with new serial # and software will not show education in system.

One person said Adobe ran out of retail disk and someone just started useing educational. not sure about this but make a good story.

appears others have ed ver. problems -see later thread: "what do you mean - educational version".

The problem seems to be connected with a batch sold through the Adobe website ... at least now they seem to have the solution sorted.

Hope the email arrives soon http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ubb/smile.gif

I had the same problem. Contacted Adobe and got a new serial number. Had a problem updating the new SN. but once I deleted all references to the previous installation, I was able to reserialize the program and the "Educational Version" reference on the splash screen was gone. As long as your program is registered with the proper serial number Adobe will treat it as a retail version. But there are no other differences.
