I got Photoshop Finishing Touches by Dave Cross last week and laid it aside due to Christmas, etc. Yesterday I finally opened it....WOW! This promises to be a great resource as I learn more about working with photos in Elements. Although it is written for Photoshop it looks to me like most of the techniques will also work in Elements. Here's a quote from the introduction:

"I want you to experiment! Just like the cook in me who started experimenting once I had the basic idea, you need to take these techniques and run with them. I deliberately don't give you fixed settings for filters and adjustment layers, instead providing examples and variations that should get your explorative senses tingling." Dave Cross

This sounds to me like it's just what a lot of us were expressing to Corey about future training courses...how to be more creative with filters, blend modes, etc. I don't think this book is for a beginner, but for those who have become comfortable with the basics and want to take the next step up to get more creative images, this book will be a wonderful resource! I don't know about you, but I'd love to get my explorative senses to tingle! :D

Warning: Lots of "guy stuff" images...good looking, sexy female models, looking like their explorative senses are tingling.;) But to be fair, Dave did include one male model, head and shoulders only and looking like he's thinking about what to have for lunch.

Thanks for the recommendation.
Maybe as PSE and PSCS users we women should demand our fair share of hunks! :D After all, we are readers and purchasers of the books too! Let's see, they could do a count of female and male subscribers to PET and NAPP and determine what the ratio should be...

Models aside ... this is one of my favorite photoshop books because there are soooo many different ideas in it. You can pop it open to any page and get a great technique. This one and Photoshop Blending Modes Cookbook are books that I keep going back to for ideas.

Vicki - the Sushi Boy image in your gallery is great!

Come on, Bill...we've all heard that line before! "Really, I don't even notice the photos...it's the techniques I'm interested in!" Yeah, right.
