This is some the 8-10" we got here in Arvada. They are calling for the snow to pick up off and on all day and then get hit hard again tonight and tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm in Aurora (east of Arvada), and I shovelled 5" off the driveway last night, and hubby got another 3 this morning. It's piled about 3 1/2 feet high on the sides of the driveway (some of it melted off after last weekend's storm) right now.

Beautiful pictures. I live in GA and our tempertures have been in the 60s. We always wish for snow, its a treat for us. But since the blizzard hit us in 1992 we haven't had hardly any snow. My hopes are up for January, maybe for my b'day, that would give me the day off with pay;)

Beautiful pictures but, boy, you guys are getting hit bad! Guess all you can do is relax, sit back, and enjoy the wine! I feel for any travelers out there because they are going to be stuck again!

The pictures of the snow are beautiful and I'm looking forward to our first snowfall whenever it comes. I hope it's not as deep as yours though!!

My sister lives in Cheyenne. I talked with my 5-year-old nephew this afternoon and he said his school (preschool) was closed today because of the snow. I asked how much and he said, "Ten or ten-and-a-half." When I asked 10 or 10 1/2 what, he replied, "SNOW, what do you think?" (Last week he told me there was snow "40 feet up" in front of his brother's car!)

Kim--My daughter and family live in Cheyenne also. I haven't talked to them yet about this storm but the last one she said they had a four foot drift in the street in front of her house. Luckily, her children are all teenagers so you know who gets to do the shoveling.

Oh WOW! I'm jealous! We have only had a dusting here in Ohio, wasn't even a white Christmas. But I do know that all that snow can cause lot's of problems, it's just so pretty! Hope the weather clears for you soon.

At least here in the metro area - we only got a couple of more inches... At least we can get out of the house this weekend!

I want SNOW.....I love SNOW.....send it on up please.:p

We have had only a tiny bit of SNOW so far... just happened to be at rush hour and caught a lot of drivers without snowtires, can't imagine what any Canadian in NS would be doing without snowtires in November but it was a traffic real mess, it took a gal from our office 4.5 hours to get home which would normally take 30 mins. We were Christmas shopping in shirt sleeves this year! Any we had a very green Christmas (not my fave..kinda flat)

Don't tell my workmates I requested this, they all hate the stuff.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow.

This is gorgeous:

That's when I love to see the snow, with the sun shining and a bright blue sky! (Not on the streets when it's been plowed and the yucky brown water has splashed up and makes it terrible...)

Thanks for sharing.:)

It looks beautiful - but I'm glad it's not here. I hate being out in snow and ice. I especially love the trees.

I love that kind of snowfall. It always looks so beautiful. We had one this year and except for the dusting of snow last night haven't had any since.

You are all making me so homesick for snowfall!! I feel like my kids have been cheated, raising them in sunny Florida (I was raised in N.Y.)
Last year at this time we were planning our trip to Colorado (Keystone). We went in January and had the best family vacation ever:D
I'm sure I'll get over my dismay when I'm out on the river in Jan. and Feb. getting a little tan. Though this year there is more of me to get tan:(
Happy New Year,
Kimh

Enjoying the South Texas warmth. I do remember however the absolute splendor and serenity of the deep snows up North. Thanks for the Winter tour. Harvey

If you'd like to see the snow that's standing here, in Albuquerque, you can take a look at my gallery. I posted a new layout, with three snow scenes. We have 13" in our yard right now. That's a record breaker for Albuquerque. Take a look!

Linda,
Nicely done. I wish I had a better eye to catch some of these scenes.

Kimh,
You can still get a tan here in Colorado in January and February, it would just be limited to the portions you were willing to expose!

Seriously, when I was a kid, I got so badly sunburned skiing that I had to put some "stuff" on my face for a week to keep it from blistering too much.

Pgreen,

That made me laugh. My dad used to take me out of school to go skiing (as long as I kept my grades up). I don't know how many times I forgot to put sunblock on and went back to school with racoon face! And sometimes, even if I did put sunblock on.

Linda, very pretty. They are forcasting freezing rain for some areas around here and I hope we miss it. I'd much rather the snow! (of which we have none)

Pauline, I live in Georgia and we hardly every have snow but we do get the sleet and it shuts metro Atlanta down. Hope the ice misses you. Have a safe New Years.

Well we've been fortunate tonight as it's raining quite hard and a bit too warm to freeze thank goodness! I'm getting a bit fed up with all this rain.

Well the Denver storms passed through here and, like Pauline says, just lots of rain but finally we have sun again and unusually mild for an Ontario January. So the best I could do was fake an ice storm - actually I was playing with solarizing with PSE5 curves with a picture taken of the moon setting just before sunrise this morning. The original wasn't too exciting and I was looking for things to do with it :) . Not like the real thing but the best I could do. (And you can keep the real thing :D )

Good job Tony. When I first looked at your picture I thought it was ice on the trees. I have PSE4, I don't think I can get that effect with 4.

Pretty Tony. You can get some beautiful pictures after an ice storm but I don't think it's worth it!! I hate freezing rain. Sure is nice to see the sun out again though.
