View Full Version : Shiny face - how to eliminate?

Does anyone know of a good way to eliminate shiny areas on the face? I have taken some photos at Christmas with the flash on and they came up really nice, only on some of the faces the "T" zone is really shiny. I have tried cloning at a very low opacity (23%) but it's not doing a very good job.
Anyone know of an easier way??
:) :) Thanks

Hi Mel ..
Try cloning at a low opacity but set the clone tool to darken that usually works better in these sort of circumstances :)

Hi Mel-
When you use the clone tool set the blend mode to darken and lower the opacity to 50%-I find it pretty effective to take care of hot spots.

Mel,
I don't know of an easier way than using the Clone Stamp , but Scott Kelby recommends changing the Mode pop-up menu on the Options Bar from Normal to Darken and lowering the Opacity to 50%. By changing the Mode to Darken you only affect the pixels that are lighter than the sampled area. The real key is patience and lots of resampling on nearby areas of skin.
Hope this helps.

:o Silly me - I had the clone stamp to 'Normal'. I use the 'lighten' mode regularly to work on the dark underneath the eyes but it never occured to me to use 'darken' for the shiny spots.......seems logical though :D
Thanks guys for the quick response :)

Why not doing a little burining in?

Hi Sandie ...
When the highlight is blown there is no detail left in there so burning doesn't usually help :)

I use the clone tool also, but it still takes me a while to get it to balance out.
