No matter what I try I cant get the Style Settings in Layer Styles to be active - its just greyed out. I want to add a drop shadow to text. Ive committed and simplyfied the text and have the text layer selected.
Thanks in anticipation

Hi David ...
Just try this for me:
Create a new document
File>New file, colour mode RGB, white
Type something on the layer in red
Now go to the Styles and Effects palette
and select layer styles
then select drop shadows
Does that work? ... or if not what happens (is it still grayed out)?

David ..
I forgot to say that you don't need to simplify a text layer in order to add a layer style to it.

Thanks Wendy, that works - so easy when you know how! I was going to the wrong palette. Trying to use style effects from the drop down menu
cheers

David,
Oh so that was the problem ... just glad to have helped. Now you can add drop shadows everywhere :)
