Hi friends,
It is snowing "cats and dogs" here in NM, so I ran outside with my newly acquired Manfrotto monopod from Christmas (thanks to my wife for reading my wish list carefully), and took a few dozen snaps of the snow falling on our house. Check out the default pic in my gallery for the best of the lot. More to come tomorrow for sure because I think it will be snowing all night.
Cheers, Ken

Ken,
It has been snowing all day here also (Tucson) but primarily above 4,000 feet. I am at 3,000 and can look out my window and see it on the mountain behind me. I'm guessing you may be near Sandia peak. By the way I am also an Alpha Shooter, have had my camera about three weeks now and love it.

Ken:

That is terrific!!! All we seem to get lately is rain!!! I love you gallery. That turtle breakout is great! That Red Wing scares me a bit!

My son spent two weeks at Philmont BS Ranch in New Mexico in July. He loved it!!! I think he would move us all out there if he could. Although, I don't think I would mind. Almost moved to Las Cruses (spelled wrong) when I was young.

Ken, the photo is gorgeous! AND -- your HOME is gorgeous! :)

I just love snow when it is falling, and when it is fresh and gloriously white. Great photo ops.

Also I am thinking of a monopod, now I really want one. Let's see more of the NM snow! :)

What a good shot. Sitting here in this part of the world, snow scenes always seems so beautiful, but I guess it is anything but when you are living in it!

Thanks everybody for your comments; it inspires me to shoot and share.

Neel -- I'm glad to meet a fellow AlphaShooter. I've had my Alpha for two months now and I love it very much. I can't wait to add some "good glass" to it but that will have to wait for my budget to recover a bit. We are East of Albuquerque right off highway 14 near a small town called Cedar Crest, which is about 15 miles down the mountain top from Sandia Peak.

Colleen -- thanks for the comments on my gallery. The red wing wasn't as scary as it looks. I enhanced it digitally to look much worse than the flight really was, although it was a little bumpy going through the clouds. It was beautiful and worthy of a photo. Also, my daughter is in Las Cruces at college. It is nice there; you would enjoy it.

Simone -- thanks for the comments on our home. We love it. I'm just getting to know my monopod, but so far so good.

I just stepped outside and the snow is still falling. I hope to wake up early to get some early morning light snow pictures, so stay tuned.

Hey there, fellow New Mexican! I'm in northwest Albuquerque. I just looked through your gallery, and enjoyed it a lot! Beautiful shot of Albuquerque at sunset. I, too, am enjoying the snow this winter.

Hi- Beautiful picture of the snow! It's been unseasonably warm here in Maryland, so I'll have to settle for seeing winter in pictures for now...

Well, here I am, back again, to say that it has been snowing just about all day long here in Albuquerque! It's starting to remind me of my previous "life" up in Alaska!:D

Hey Linda -- glad to see other Albuquerque folks online. I'm glad you enjoyed my photos. I live in the east mountains in the Paa-ko community just north of Cedar Crest. It is snowing like crazy out here. Check out my next post for information on how to get to my most recent snow photos. Hope to see you online again.

Hi again everybody. I promised more snow pictures today after it snowed all night here in northern New Mexico. Well, here they are. More than 20 snow pictures are available to view in my web gallery. You can find them here:

http://www.kenw.us/photography/snowweb/index.html

You can find all of my web galleries on the same web site by removing the snowweb/index.html. By the way, I used the beta of Adobe Lightroom to create the snowweb gallery -- let me know what you think. The other galleries are the flash type created using PSE5's organizer.

Finally, I added my favorite to my gallery here available using the usual click on my signature below. Enjoy.

Yea -- it is starting to feel like we live in the far north with all this snow. You should see our area out here in the east mountains. I've NEVER seen so much snow in my life.

Linda, I love your pictures of your beautiful baby, especially the first swim picture. I love how you framed that picture with the movie roll and other effects.

Thanks, AlphaShooter :) She's my grandbaby -- our only one, so we're pretty smitten with her.

We live on the west mesa, and we're pretty deep over here, too. I'm enjoying it a lot, but my hubby is on his way home from work, so I'm praying for a safe and uneventful trip (he works on base, so it's a pretty good commute).

Your gallery is fantastic, you have some beautiful images of the snow and I love the balloons!

Hi Ken, love your snow photos! Also your entire collection is so nice, both the photos and how they are presented. In the balloon collection, I especially like the photo of the balloons on the ground, with a balloon with a bird/beak (not sure which cartoon character it is!) facing camera,w here they are backlit with a dawn or dusk sky. Beautiful!

I imagine right now you and family are sipping hot chocolate (or whatever!) by a roaring fire with the snow outside looking beautiful! :)

We now have 13" in our yard, and I just posted a layout with three views of the snow, in my gallery. Hope you'll take a look. :)

Thanks all for the comments about my photos. We now have over 3 feet of snow outside ... you heard that right... THREE feet of snow. I've shoveled my driveway twice and both times the snow was over a foot deep. Man, I need a massage!!!

Tomorrow should be sunny so there is likely to be some awesome photo opportunities... stay tuned.

Linda -- I'm going to peek at your gallery right now.

Lovely layout Linda! I really like the border and how you strung them together. I also looked at your web page and I love the heritage book that you put together.
