I was running PSE5 when we had a power failure and the computer went down. Now when I try to do anything requiring the paint brush, there is no action. I can select the brush tool and all brushes are present. there is simply no action when I try to use the brush. Should I reinstall 5? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much

Hello Rich
Before installing, look at the upper left corner of the screen when you click the Brush icon. Right click on this icon and do a Reset Tool (or Reset All, since you had a power hiccup and others may be effected).
Hope this solves the problem.

Thanks Ward. that seems to have fixed part of the problem anyway. All that is not working now are the default brushes and the eraser tool.?????

Rich-did you check your cursors in Preferences?

Seems like a lot of people suggest resetting the preferences for Elements when something starts acting wierd like that. To do that, launch the Editor and immediately hold down the Control+Alt+Shift keys. You should get a popup that asks if you want to reset the Settings file, answer Yes. Maybe that will do the trick.

Thanks Jodi and Carol. I did try to reset with no help. But I did find a problem. I was using the Wacom mouse. When I swith to the pen or my regular mouse it works fine. Just another reason not to use the Wacom mouse.

Good that you got it working to some extent! It seems like a lot of Wacom tablet users have issues similar to this. Did you check Wacom's website to see if there is an updated driver to download for your tablet? If there is, maybe that will help your issue.
