View Full Version : Shoot me for asking, but . . . .

I do not yet have Graffi's auto-downloader. So here's my question. I know it has been asked and answered, but when I searched out threads the answers were so buried that I am having difficulty. (Is there a quick answer to this oft-asked question somewhere on our site? If not, there should be a chart somewhere for the dolts like me, who can never remember.)

In the subscriber download section, I am looking to download some of those freebies. Which folder do you put these things in once downloaded in PSE5?

1. Layer Styles
2. Patterns
3. Brush Sets
4. Wendy's downloads
5. Custom shape deckles and other "custom shape" collections
6. Elements Chrome

Thanks in advance!

Marie,

Here's a site with some pretty good instructions.

http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pselements/qt/freegoodies.htm

Basically, in Windows (unless version 5 is different??):
My Computer
C:
Program Files
Adobe
Photoshop Elements [version]
Presets
Within the Presets folder you'll see the subfolders for the different addons. If in questions just look in the folders and look for the file extensions, they should match the extensions of the files you wish to add.

Hope this helps.

Diana

Diana:
Thanks for the link. I will study it. Everything I have seen suggests that PSE5 is a bit different in terms of where to place these add-ons.

Thank you for your help though!!!

Hi Marie,

Here's a thread where Wendy addresses version 5 downloads:

At least on PSE5, you can in addition go to Edit/File Association... and check the boxes of the files PSE should open for you.

I just printed Wendy's instructions. Thanks for the link.

I think that link should be a "sticky" (or permanent thread) at the top of this PSE5 forum. Wonder if someone can make that happen?

In any event, thanks for finding it for me!

don't forget about the few things that actually go into two places - styles & shapes ;)
