Hi guys...
Remember those toy horses we used to have as children??? Those who had a stick and we use to climb on top and pretend we were riding???
Whats the name for that?
Thanx

We used to call them stick ponies. We had nine kids in our family and only 5 of the stick ponies so sometimes we didn't all have a horse head - just a stick.:D We used to "ride" along with Miss Lois on Romper Room on tv when they put on their hats and rode their ponies to story time.

OMG-Romper room:eek: I used to get so mad at the end of the show because she never saw ME in her magic mirror. Kim wasn't a popular name in Romper room but it sure is here in our forum!

BTW --in my family our stick ponies were the brooms!:o

We used sticks too, and hangers for a hat. . . now that hurt a little!!!
I guess I'm pretty old, it was Miss Nancy on Romper Room in my day. The show originated in Baltimore and in later years a friend of mine worked there for either Miss Nancy or Miss Sally and said she was a very odd duck!!!

Hi Shnupita ...
Here in the UK we call them Hoby Horses (or Hobby Horses)

Shnupita, I grew up hearing both hobby horses and stick ponies.
By the way, it's so good to "see" you again! Seems it's been a long time since I read a post from you or saw pictures of your little girl. But maybe I've just missed them. I haven't been able to read every post lately -- too many of them, and too little time.

Wow, Romper Room, Hobby Horses, Stick Ponies. What a blast from the past. I don't remember any of our Stick Ponies as nice as the ones on the site Wendy provided. Hobby Horses were the big rubber balls with a round handle or horse head with handles that you bounced around on when I grew up.

We called them Hobby Horses also (and Kimh, they were sometimes brooms!). I bought one for my nephew a couple of years ago when he turned 3, along with a red cowboy hat:) and one for my "niece" last year when she turned 2. They both loved them! I have a video of my nephew on his making horse sounds.
Shnupita, thanks for helping me recall that fun memory!:D

We just used sticks or brooms. My 2 1/2 yr old daughter uses about anything right now. The wrapping paper tubes worked great and she can't do much damage to her little brother with those.

Hmmm I wonder if Romper Room was syndicated with each are having their own "Miss" whatever. I had Lois, but Nancy, Jean and Sally I don't recall ever seeing. I also don't remember her ever seeing me either either but she always saw my brothers John, David and James (Jimmy) Guess those were the most common names.
