Hi

in PSE 4 it was possible to import files/photos from eg cameras and renaming them like this:

"YYYYMMDDxx1"

I have all my 7000 photos according to this file-name structure.
The "YYYYMMDD" sequence I put in myself, the "xx1" was a "counter" starting with eg 1 provided by PSE. The filename was then created without a gap.

In PSE 5 the same option is there, but the filename ends up like this:

"YYYYMMDD xx1"

With a gap between the date sequence and the "counter".
Am I doing something wrong?
I would hate to change all my 7000 file-names.....

If you find that you need to rename a large group of photos, the free utility IrfanView might be helpful to you. It can batch rename files to your specification. It's also a good photo viewer.

I believe it's Windows-only, although that may not be true anymore.

in addition to Irfanview, I like the free Xnview (http://www.xnview.com/) too - especially for its batch features & organizing.

It's for Windows, MacOS X, Linux x86, Linux ppc, FreeBSD x86, OpenBSD x86, NetBSD x86, Solaris sparc, Solaris x86, Irix mips, HP-UX, AIX !

Graffi, thanks for that tip; I believe I'll add that utility to my toolbox!

you'll like it - I don't think I've ever opened the Organizer, instead opting for that little freebie gem!

Thanks for your advice.
I was hoping for a solution within PSE Organizer.
I'm using the tag system in Organizer extensively.

Seems odd to be forced to have a separate program for import/file-naming.
The solution was there in PSE 4, though....

Hmmmm...
