new computer - moving organizer

We just got a new computer and I want reinstall elements because when I first installed it, help didnt install. We have software to move our files, but I want to move them with their tags. Do I put them in a separate file? Dont say put them on a cd that wont workn on our old computer.

The reference Colin has given refers to using an external hard drive or CD/DVDs for backup. I'm assuming from your first post that you don't have a CD writer in your old computer.

You could equally well backup to the old machines hard disc, then use whatever file transfer method you are adopting to move the backup set to the new PC, and restore from there. (I'm assuming you're using something like Laplink?) This will need quite a lot of available hard drive space on the old machine though, because the backup set contains a full copy of every image in your catalog.
