Updating... (Organizer)

Within a couple minutes after opening Organizer (PE 5), a small window always pops up titled Adobe Photoshop Elements, with the message 'Updating...' and a progress bar. I am unable to use the application for several minutes, until this process is completed.

I recently upgraded from PE 3 to PE 5.

What is being updated? From what? How can I control or eliminate this?

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum.

I see this bar appear as you describe while the Organiser is checking its Watched Folders for changes (i.e. new images). Have you perhaps set it to watch some folders that have a lot of changes that it needs to wade through (even if they don't result in new images)?
